Root One Stop Shopping for Fascinate Kernels

Question: Do voodoo kernels and/or lagfix use more battery life somehow? It sure seems like my battery drains a lot faster since going voodoo. I can't even imagine getting the 3-5 days worth out of a single charge that I used to get with geeknik's stupidfast 1.54.

voodoo in and of itself wont affect battery life much...if anything quicker write speeds would be a minimal help.

its the voltage of the kernel that changes things

Yeah that's what I thought, too, but I just can't shake the feeling that most of the voodoo kernels I've tried drain the batt noticeably quicker... I know jt's kernels are typically -50 uv, and I know imnuts has a range of uv options, but due to my various issues with his kernels I haven't been able to spend enough time on one to really judge their battery life. You wouldn't happen to know how much stupidfast 1.54 is uv, would you? Or better yet, how I can find this information myself from the various kernel zips?

do you wipe cache when you flash kernels?...also might want to try a battery stats wipe after charging up to 100

I didnt used to be as vigilant about this before. However, message to all: when ever we change kernels and the new kernel has a new/different voltage map than the previous its critical to wipe the cache and the batt stats I did some testing and the difference was mildly stunning. 9/10 times if someone isnt thrilled with their imnuts kernel they merely need to wipe the cache and once the battery gets re-charged wipe the batt stats. After one full cycle thru and re-charge on the same kernel the second time around the battery life really will be exactly where you expect it to be, many times the first run thru as well. Now if someone goes from say imnuts -100 1/26 to his -100 1/28 for instance its less critical.

wipe both cache partition and dalvik? I have done one or the other, but never both...never had any issues. I'm gonna try and wipe battery stats. I get a days worth out of the battery, not good or bad IMO.

Both is fine. Again this will showcase more when your new kernel has a different voltage profile than the previous one. Also IME if after wiping everything you start as close to 100% as possible and run it as low as possible on that second aforementioned run thru the battery life really seems to be prolonged. Problem for some is they are changing kernels at too great a frequency to get a second day on it :p

Lately i have been going back and forth between imnuts (100 UV) and adrenalyne's tests (UV) kernels and notice a significant disparity in battery consumption. i guess it's time to wipe. Are adrynalyne's latest UV kernels -50 or higher
Yeah adryn keeps the same voltage profile -50mv at the top -75mv in the middle and -100mv at the bottom. Yeah if switching between these two its even more important to wipe the cache and the batt stats. In a case like the this the second full cycle on the battery will be the golden one, 1st will depend on if you fully charge and how much you drain it down.
But as a rule I now always wipe and batt stat wipe if I change kernels with new voltages. Same voltage [like a imnuts kernel] cache wipe advisable and recommended, still not mandatory per se. But if you are already in clockwork why not take 5 seconds and do it. ;)

I realize that I may be a little slow in staying current with the latest kernels/updates etc., but I too am really liking jt's 1/23. Just glad that so many of you are so quick to jump on all of the latest releases to test them out for people like me who are not the techiest!

Edit: my phone is much smoother with this kernel, YouTube videos seem to loading better as well, not sure if a kernel could affect that, but I'm really liking this over my previous imnuts 1/8

After following this advice and flashing imnuts 1/28 -75 kernel, I got ~30 hours out of my first charge, which isn't bad at all considering I used wifi, navigation/gps, browser, and music a fair amount. Interestingly, I also haven't (thus far) experienced the wonky softkey issue I'd been having, either.

I have also experienced great battery life (29 hrs and still going))after following Saps advice with imnuts 1/28 -75. I made many calls for a sum of 2 hours and 32 min, 83 texts (sending and receiving) and some light internet browsing and i am at 51%. I only have one widget (BW) three screens and manual synching for Gmail. I tried imnuts -100 but i feels his -75 is snappier. Can't wait to try his 1/30 -50 voodoo sound V4.

Should I wipe the cache batt stats at full charge?

Going on 35 hours with jt 1/23 and a cache/Batt stat wipe, still have 22 percent left after a day and a half of moderate use (text, internet, voice calls, etc). My phone is fast too, loving this kernel

Sweet did you try the voodoo sound yet? You need voodoo control app from market to enable and adjust, its nice

Yeah, voodoo sound makes a huge difference. What I still can't believe is that I was only making it about 8 hours on one charge, I even went out and bought an extra charger for my office. I made it about 37 hours with this kernel! It would have lasted longer but I was playing let's golf 2 while talking on the phone lol
