The time has finally come for me to part with my little Eris. It's been a bittersweet ride with this thing and I do believe part of me will miss it. Moved on to a Fascinate and hope it treats me as well as my Eris did.

Congrats on the new phone. I looked at the Fascinate when I replaced my Eris, but it's just too darn big. The Eris (and now DInc) take up enough space in my pocket as it is, I just couldn't see myself carrying the Fascinate without learning to dislike it because of it's size. Though I'm sure the extra real estate on the screen would be nice for many things.

Thank you for the compliment.. over there are some true sages on that device, though, saps and nitsuj17 come to mind, and others.
I finally deactivated my Eris.. kept it going for a few months after getting the Fascinate.. feeling a bit sad about that, as it has served me well (as the OP also states).

Same here, I never had any major complaints about mine. It was kind of a sad day when I tucked it in the envelope to be sent off to Verizon.
Of course I'll feel a little better about that when I get $132 from them.

My upgrade date comes in August, but my contract expiration is December. I'm not making the mistake of a two year contract again, so if Verizon Wireless doesn't let me renew my contract in August to a one year deal, I'll wait until December, when the contract expires, to renew one year with a new handset. So I may be rocking the Eris for the rest of this year.

My understanding is that you can use for anything at Verizon, including paying your bill. I haven't actually seen it yet, so can't say for sure.

Looks like you will beat me by a month ... my upgrade is in July. About 2 months ago I got my Eris to a point where I dont have any problems and just left it there (other than a few changes in apps and wallpapers).

Something to note: The price of the Eris on the Trade-In program has gone down to $32 now. Not sure when it happened, but I know it was within the last day or two. So much for waiting to trade it in to put that toward my upgrade....

It can be used online or in a verizon store for anything. I used mine to pay my bill online just yesterday.

my upgrade date is in august also, the wife wants the iphone(boo) as she used to have one on At&t..... but I will get the thunderbolt....or the next great rootable android phone....

It looks great and all, but first of all, I won't even be able to use the 4G until at least 2013. Also, that size is just not functional for me. I'm excited to see what comes out throughout the summer.... kinda hoping for an Eris 2 with upgraded guts!!
