Root CM 7.0 Nightlies

I'm going to nandroid back to my 23 build and see if checking the keep message app in memory helps, I'm also going to turn of autokiller... hopefully that will help my text issues, I really love the build other then the text issues... pretty solid all the way around.

I recommend against using task killers. They help if an application is poorly programmed and eating cpu cycles in the background, but in the majority of cases they're counter-productive, because the OS keeps loading them into memory and the task killer keeps flushing them, which kills battery. Better to get rid of problem apps.

Applications running in the background, if properly written, don't consume any resources.

Anybody having weird touch screen issues w/ these ROMs?

Since loading build 22 my touch screen has gone wonky. Has a mind of it's own now. It's flaky in responding to touch, and sometimes just goes nuts on it's own w/ a bunch of phantom touches (like watching a ghost use my phone). Trying to determine if it's the ROM or my screen is just dying (I think it's just dying).

i started with 23,and went to 25 last night. i was using liquid ginger bread wich i liked alot. very smooth and snappy. i decided to try cyanogen after reading alot of reports that LGB unmercifully sucks down your battery.

i abuse the crap out of my phone with calls, texts, email and web surfing. i cant decide if cm7 is any better... i dont get a whole day out of either :D

anyone have any comments about battery life vs LGB or any other rom?

I'm betting that it makes a quick check and reported what it *thought* was the correct value for the battery on boot. When it was at 30% (and how did you get 30% and 50% anyway? Supposed to be 20% increments until it hits 20%, then it goes in 5% increments), after the reboot and loading all apps it probably dropped down to an actual 20% value.

Remember, the difference in percentages is not absolute - since we don't have increments of single digits,a numerical reading of 30 percent can actually (probably) be anywhere from 35% to 34% (if standard rounding is used). Even if the ROM is now set to report in 10% increments, you're still looking at that 10 value range. So, if it said 30%, but was actually, say, 26%, and the reboot ate 2% due to loading apps and such, then it dropped to 24%, which would now read as 20%.

that is not how my battery works... it drops in increments of 10 down to 40,from there down to 20,then in increments 5 till it dies. i guess there is no flash or fix to make it read actual number in 1% increments?

sometimes i have to to multiple touches for things to happen. on screen and soft keys.

Just loaded build 25...can't toggle USB to xfer files to/from phone. Running sapphire, lv, 7 slot 1Ghz kernel. It was working fine on build 24. Flashing back and gonna try to start 25 over without the kernel.
i flashed 25 overop of 23 and i can still toggle usb to transfer files

Actually so do I. Autokiller isn't a task killer. It simply let you adjust how agresively the native Android app manager controls background apps. :)

DSP Manager was written with specific lib files that replaced the stock 2.2 lib files. I have a feeling that until those lib files are re-written for the replacement of 2.3 lib files that DSP is gonna FC on us every time.

I wish when they do fix it, they would just make the bluetooth setting just bass an treble, i mean really what do you need an eq for when having a normal conversation. Ear buds an bluetooth style ear buds for music i see the need for an EQ but not just a earpiece for talking.

If UD doesn't put out his final today as scheduled I'm trying this ROM.

From UD's Facebook page:

Blackdroid has been without internet for a 1 1/2 days now due to weather. The earliest guaranteed time for a fix is mid-Monday. Because of these circumstances, it is not likely that we'll see UD 3.0 Final today. Please be patient as this is something which could not have been foreseen or avoided by Blackdroid. Thank you for understan...ding and we apologize for dashing your dreams! :)

Running #26 and everything seems to be working but sometime over the past week a build broke my wifi. It's not been a big deal since I'm usually at home or at work during the week and I've got wifi at both. I haven't wiped since I switched back to CM from UD last Friday - I guess it's time to give that a try.

#26 also fixed my issue with sending pictures. I couldn't upload to dropbox or picasa and if I emailed from either gmail or my corp account it would send the email with no attachment. That was just weird.

No offense, but that's the problem with UD. It's ALWAYS something. I don't mind waiting ... but every time he posts a schedule, he never sticks to it. NEVER! And I don't use those words loosely. And his nightlies became a bust as well. After just a few, he quit posting them for quite awhile. Lame. CM is soooo much more on top of this stuff. :)

I have yet to have my WiFi broken. But I did do a format just a couple of ROMs ago, just for the heck of it. Build #26 is almost flawless, minus DSP Manager. I recommend doing a nandroid backup, then formatting every partition, then reflashing #26 and Google apps. And, your kernel of choice. Chevy's 1.1 ULV runs great here, and I'm experiencing better battery life then with the stock 800 kernel. Go figure.

This is what I get for trying to talk to my dad on the phone, my wife at the kitchen table and trying to post at the same time. I meant to say that my 3G is broken and not my wifi.

EDIT:

After a couple of reboots 3G is working - doesn't seem like much needs to be done before rolling out CM7 Final. Side note, anyone notice Goggles in the CM Settings?
