Modern Warfare 3?

I read awhile back the next COD could be set in the future. I kinda of have mix feelings on that ho. Most futuristic games kinda suck but if anyone can pull it off, its these guys.

Yeah, maybe they'll do something drastic, like instead of shooting down hallways, it'll be SPACE hallways, and maybe instead of an M4, it'll be a SPACE M4 with LAZORS. And this time there will be a scripted quick time event every TWO seconds instead of five! It'll sell billions!

Oh and the multiplayer will be awesome. You'll randomly spawn behind the enemy even more commonly now, and then an enemy will randomly spawn behind you, and then all the twelve year olds will call each other ******s, and then people will camp and complain about hackers when they get shot, and it'll be sooooo cool and soooooo new and sooooo groundbreaking and original!

Can't forget, make sure that it totally sucks for no reason on PC and uses the Xbox graphics! PC players love that! And no dedicated servers too!

Man CoD is like the best game of all time because Infinity Ward and Treyarch sure know how to use ctrl+c -> ctrl+v.

Meanwhile Battlefield 3 will come out and not get any press.

Everybody has their preferences when it comes to games. Which Battlefield games did you play and what did you not like about them?

Probably the fact that in Battlefield you have to actually aim, unlike unrealistic COD games where bullets fly straight no matter how far they go.
Just my guess, since thats what most people dislike about Battlefield.

Ive played both Battlefield on PS3 and yes it does look good and there are many other arguments you can make, it cant match COD in the FUN factor. Thats what matters and thats why COD will alway be on top.

That's your opinion. Battlefield is a more realistic shooter. If your entertained by RC-bombs and flying a gunship then that's great for you. I personally, along with a few others here love Battlefield and would prefer it over any other shooters.

I'll take a Battlefield Huey or Hind any day over a CoD Chopper Gunner & Gunship.

Call of Duty sales dominate Battelfield... clearly alot of people are having more fun with COD.

Never bothered with PC gaming. Gaming on consoles is the easiest, cheapest, fastest and most popular way to accomplish my gaming needs. Ive never sat around with my boys wanting to play a game on the computer.

Bring stats to the table for Call of Duty vs Battlefield total sales then we can discuss.

Easiest in terms of start the damn thing up and be playing in 5 minutes. I had a PC nutslinger working with me when World at War came out. I bought for PS3 and played that night. He found out the game required a better graphics card or some bs.. no thanks. I was bored with the game by the time he was able to run it.

I guess that just proves my theory that the more patient people do game on the PC.
I would much rather spend 3 hours building a machine that will be able to run anything for the next 5+ years, rather than spend 5 minutes setting up a console that will only be able to run games for maybe the next two years.

List of best-selling video game franchises

COD comes in at 88 million sales. Battlefield an estimated 30 million. Modern Warfare 2 nearly outsold the entire Battlefield series.

Remember now, COD is among the biggest name if not the biggest name in FPS franchise. What does this mean, people will buy the game regardless of being good. Just like MW3 which is not a continuing the story, but instead you see everything through Ghost's eyes in COD4 and MW2.

Back to what I said, I am probably among the people that like BO the most on this forum, but I do say this. COD at the moment is overrated, it's not selling anymore because its great - but because its more popular and everyone have friends that plays it. Regardless of this, I will go the newest Ghost Recon game and BF3 anyday.

Since in COD franchise, I can't see how 3 companies can make a game good. Best example is MoH, where SP is among the best SPs I have ever played in term of feeling. Where MP failed in most aspects other than gamemodes, I really liked the ideas for gamemodes. Shame it was poorly executed and rushed bit too much.

But back to what you said, I loved to use the argument most sold is the better product before but that is not always true. Special not in the gameworld where people have different tastes and where the aspect of the game itself is different. Since COD will always be a arcade FPS where BF will present reality little bit better then what other games do it. Maybe the few games that beat it is games like Ghost Recon, AA series and Op Flashpoint. Which is again not really trying to conquer the action marked, but catering to the old fans instead.

Two years?? Cmon now.. ps3 is still the most advanced console out there and its 4 years old. The full potential of the ps2 wasnt even used til games like god of war came out.

I might have exaggerated a little, but the main issue with consoles is that you can't upgrade them. In the event you do run into a game you can't play because of some hardware limitation, it's buy a new console or no game. That just doesn't seem worth it to me, but to each his own, sorry if I sounded rude.

Don't forget to add its very hard to program games for PS3 compared to other consoles and computer. Computer will always be the easiest one to make a game for, but I know a lot of people is complaining about programming for PS3 because of the advanced structure that takes a lot more time compared to PC where its much more simple to get the same effect.

While I agree with you, but its not hard to make a great computer either like what most people say. You just need to know how to set it up and where to buy the pieces, but reason why I stick with consoles is because I'm moving around a lot. So other than laptop, I can't really have a computer.

If you want realism, play Arma II. ;)

Battlefield has always mixed just enough realism into their games to still make them marketable to the masses though.

I'll have to disagree with you there, it isn't incredibly hard to make a good computer. If you want to make a truly great computer, (which in my opinion would be a computer that could run every game for the next 20-30 years flawlessly) that requires time and research. Especially when you get into all the fancy stuff like multiple graphics cards, CPU's, liquid cooling, etc.

You could not possibly build a computer today capable of running games 25 years from now, that is absurd.

Hardly. Unless games advance an incredible amount from where they are now, a setup that had the best parts possible (lets say multiple Intel Hexa Core processors, and multiple GTX 580's/480's, just in terms of CPU/GPU) could easily run any game created for quite a long time.
My point being; most people don't have the patience, the time, the money, or the willingness to create a setup like that. Not to mention it would be considerably cheaper to just upgrade your PC as new games rolled out.
