Device app storage space amount known yet?

This makes me worry about HTC. HTC seems to continue the old cell phone thinking. You bought it, you're stuck with it. We're not going to lift a finger to fix really stupid mistakes in the phone. You don't like it? Buy a new phone.

Its exactly that attitude that makes people flock to the iPhone. Apple tries hard to fix the user experience and avoid really stupid things like a 135MB limit on a device with 6GB of built in storage. I can't express how disappointed I am with HTC and Google. Makes the phone unusable as a smartphone if you can't run more than a few apps.

Is there a way to fix it if rooted?

Would someone enplane this better? What exactly are you talking about? Are you saying that the phone can have 8 gig of storage, but only uses 135 mb for working apps at a time.

I want a TBolt but I do not want to get "screwed" with app storage like I did with the BB Storm 1.

Potentially.... let me explain a little bit about the different types of storage though. Just because the phone has 8 GB of internal storage does not mean it can all be used for app storage. The internal storage is actually different block devices (read: internal SD Cards....I'm not going to get in to the specific of a NAND partition vs an eMMC) and different devices have different access speeds. The /data partition on the incredible is part of the eMMC block device that operates at a lower speed, more around the rate of an SD Card which is ok for long term storage like apk files (apps) It is ~ 748 MB. Technically you could resize the partition table since this is just cut out of a chunk of the eMMC. The /data/data folder however a NAND block device. NAND devices are much faster than eMMCs so this makes it an ideal place to store frequently used application data and settings. Again you could potentially resize this partition by messing with the size of the /system and /cache partitions (which are also part of the NAND block device) but unless you really know what you are doing this could lead to huge problems.

The other, easier way to "fix" this problem is to create a symlink. Any apps that take up a large chunk of /data/data... just copy the folder to the eMMC and create a linux symlink (this is assuming you have root)... the downside is that app will operate much slower and more laggy since it is not running off of the fast NAND block device. So its a trade off. You also will have to manually fix permissions, etc or run a script to do such.

As far as what the bolt comes with, no way to know until someone gets a device in their hands.

Of course there are other, more tested methods like apps2sd, cache2cache etc, but again you need root.

I have over 150 apps on my incredible and never run in to this low space issue. Then again I use AOSP ROMs and dont have HTC bloatware
