Any apps to block unwanted calls and SMS?

What's the best solution, I have an ex who WILL NOT leave me alone. My carrier is T-mobile and I have the MyTouch 4G. Should I just give T-mobile a call to block their number and will it block SMS too? Or is there an app I can just get to block their Calls, SMS, and if possible MMS in case I need to block more people later on?

Thanks.

I had a feeling somebody would respond with something similar like that and I probably should've included this fact earlier but... bear in mind here I'm a teenager and honestly would prefer to do something other than call the authorities. I believe going that far for this situation I'm in is a little far all I need is just an app or something. Thanks for the advice and help though.

Best bet would be to call T-Mobile and have that number added to the blacklist for SMS and calls.

If you don't want to do that (because that might actually require your parents to call if you aren't the account owner) is to handle it on your phone.

I use Handcent SMS which has a blacklist feature (though I've never used it). I could also mark a contact to go straight to voicemail when they call, then just delete any messages they left. I would bet there are other apps to do something similar... do a search of the Market.

Those apps look good.

In my opinion, i would call t-mobile and have that number blacklisted. Because that isnt based on an application, and in the event of removing that application, it will always be blocked. ;)

This seems like a useful feature though, i am considering adding that feature to my application in the market "TextSecretary". Currently, its an automatically responding away message, with features like silencing your phone when your away, etc. But we are always adding features. I think this one seems very relevant. :D

There are many applications available on the android market for blacklisting phone calls as well as SMS and MMS. visit the android market or whichever application market you are using and enter "DROID BLACKLIST" (android market) or "PHONE NUMBER BLACKLIST" (other markets). Most of these applications can be customized to block specific numbers, area codes, any numbers not appearing in your contacts list and numbers thought to be spam calls. You can also specify if you would like to block just calls, just sms or both from each number you add to the black list. I hope this helped.

Having that number blacklisted by your provider is of course the best solution, but takes considerably more time and effort to implement than configuring the likes of free Mr. Number Call Block, which can be up and running in 3 minutes from now. So maybe it's only a stopgap. But in that case it's a very convenient, effective, and free stopgap, imo.
