Trouble picking a phone... Droid X vs. HTC Incredible vs. Samsung Fascinate

As the title suggests, I am going to be upgrading my Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept to a Verizon phone, I am stuck between these 3 and have no idea which to choose.

I have read incredible reviews on every phone and obviously, anything is going to be a major upgrade for me from my Samsung Intercept.

Currently, I use quite a bit of apps, and I like to play games on the phone. Right now battery life on my Intercept is pretty much garbage, with heavy use I am lucky to get half a day out of it, so I am wondering how the battery life works for you owners of these phones.

I know they are all pretty similar, I am really liking the LED screen display on the HTC and the Fascinate, so it is nice and crisp and bright display compared to the DX. I have heard that the Fascinate lags occasionally so that and the fact that it comes with Bing and 2.1 is really a downfall for me.

I really liked all of the features on the HTC but the smaller screen size kind of is throwing me away from it. All in all though it seems like a nice package. As far as the DX goes, I like a lot of the features on it, the 4.3" screen seems a bit too big but when you put them side by side they arent THAT big of a difference. The biggest thing I did not like about the DX is the hard buttons at the bottom of the phone.

Anyways, anything I may be missing or anything that really seems to put one phone ahead of the other to try and help out my decision on getting a phone would REALLY be helpful! Thanks!!!

I would say the Droid X comes out ahead of the three when it comes to battery life but still low actually, so I would still recommend to have strategically placed chargers such as on your car or place at work.

The Fascinate comes with a lower version of Android OS than the Droid X and Droid Incredible.

If you use quite a bit of apps, the Droid X has the most internal phone storage of the three, but since the Droid Incredible has Froyo, both Droids can store some apps into the SD card.

Droid X appears to have more battery management options. If battery life is a concern, minimize background syncs or lengthen the intervals of those you do. Another good way to preserve battery life is cut off the mobile data from the phone and activate it only when you need it. Of course, that may affect your push email and social network notifications.

I think it comes down to personal preference. I chose the Droid Incredible because (as a woman) my hands are smaller and the Incredible felt better. However, both of my daughters chose the Droid X - they like the larger screen and size isn't an issue for them even though they have small hands too. I am not an expert, maybe others can tell you internal reasons to choose one over the other. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I have been doing crazy research on which one I prefer and I think I pretty much ruled out the Fascinate due to the bing, the eclair 2.1 and just the lag on occasion from what I hear.

Me and the gf have finally decided to both get different phones (I will get the Droid X and she will get the Incredible) and try them out each for a few days and decide from there which one we each like, that way I guess we can both have a hands on feel for them. It really is hard to make a decision when it's not right in front of your face.

From what I have seen in the past few hours, the Droid X benchmarks are almost untouchable. The only downfall for the X I do not like currently is the hard buttons and the TFT screen display.

The downfalls I do not like about the HTC is the apparent plastic, cheap feel, the smaller screen size (which may not be a big deal) and the lower benchmark scores and also the low battery life.

I just hope Verizon has some sort of trial period where you can swap out the phones no problem :p

I think verizon has 15 day trial but I would wait maybe a week and get the thunderbolt instead! It comes out, I think, on valentines day. Perfect gift for you and your gf.:D

Do you know how much it is going to be with a 2 year contract? I think if I was gonna wait, it would be for the Droid Bionic, but that's WAY too long of a wait :\
