Hi,
Unbeknown to me I actually got some excellent battery usage over the weekend which I am very keen to share with you all
I did the following on Thursday night
Total wipe of the phone and memory card
Installed RC6 then booted up
Updated to RC7 then rebooted
Added the kernel 2.6.37 then reboot
added the powersave script rookeemod-oxygen.zip
set wifi to be always on and no powersave.
over 100 emails
200 texts
and lots of facebook usage

and just check out these screen shots note the percentage of battery left with the time used

I am in shock to how much the battery has saved by being on WIFI all this time and not using HSPDA/3g

I would like to thank every one who has been involved in the rom and those who have been so kind in answering my questions as now I finally have a excellent setup.

Thats amazing, i'm still using the stock T-Mobile 2.2, not sure about how to go about installing custom roms but that is totally amazing!

Any chance you could give me some tips about where to look about more information, I know quite a bit about PC's but i really dont want to brick my phone (on 24 month contract, cost a lot).

Yes, thanks. Guess you've charged since. Lot of screen off above. Also, lot of awake. Whats that big bar of awake there? That doesn't look right. generally I find mine looks similar to the display. Like the first half of yours does.

Thats odd.

Yes I put it on charge at 12:15 today with 54% left as I know I will be away from some charge for a while until late tonight
but those 2 screen shots are from now not when I did the other screen shots over the weekend, its been charged since then!

screen off? is that not when the phone's screen is off when not using it?

Yes a lot of awake as I have been using the phone for calls/emails/texts/facebook
the large awake is probably from 6pm to 10pm when it was hardly turned off as was watching football scores last night.

In what way does it not look right? can I show you anything else to help?

Just in that during that massive period of awake time, the screen is off for most of it. Dont understand why thats all.

hmm, I am guessing that was from 11:30pm - 10:30am when I was asleep and not looked at the phone apart from 20 mins or so at about 8am
the phone does sync emails and calendar during the night as there is no peak/off peak time in this rom just a silent mode?

I don't know just showing you what you asked for!

Oh no, I know you are. But I have Ginger Villain myself, and during the night, I have hardly any awake time.

Awake time (partial wake lock) are applications that are preventing the phone from going to sleep when it is not in use.

Mind you, if you are not using Gmail (and only the email client with a 15 Minute refresh) then maybe this is normal?

My emails are pushmail so instant from my exchange server 24/7 so they come through at night although the sound is off, the LED still flashes all night (annoyingly)
I have been losing about 1% every hour over night which I am keen to get lower.

I'm using stock Froyo and facing battery problem. It can stay around 10hr with my normal usage. I installed an application/widget (JuicePlotter) which can show battery life which approx. matches with my practical usage. When fully charged it shows battery life 10hr (sometimes 10hr 30min). Do you have such app installed in your phone? If any (if possible install JuicePlotter), could you please share the battery life projection?
I'm queering such thing as I wanna install a custom ROM and searching for the beast.

How to Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on HTC Desire

I'm keen to give this a go - or at least get someone geekier than me to help me with it :).

My phone is only a couple of weeks old - I'm guessing doing this is going to void the warranty?

Would be interested to hear the pros and cons of rooting and going down this path if it does in fact void the warranty. Are these phones so reliable that I'm unlikely to need the security of a warranty?

Thanks guys.

Hello, you are suggesting to upgrade the HTC Desire with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. I have 2 questions:1) Is the 2.3 officially out for this device?2) is it impacting (in relevante way) the battery power?ThanksStefano

I was facing problem with low battery backup with my desire. Few days earlier I successfully flashed my Desire with Gingerbread 1.8. But now improvement found. I've just flashed with Oxygen 2.0.3 but still I observed no improvement on battery life. :(
After fully charged (100%), I used 10 minutes of Internet in my laptop over wifi tethering (EDGE).

Could anybody (specially MR. Paulcooper) please suggest me to do something to get better battery life?
