Help Text Messages Out of Order

Hi All. New to the forum. My 1st post. Hope it's appropriate.

Just recently, my Samsung Moment (2.1) has started replying to text messages out of order. For instance, someone will respond to my text, and it will appear 3 messages above my text to him. The times seem in order, but not necessarily correct.

I have also noticed that they tend to "group". In other words, Most of his replies will be grouped together.

After some time passes, the order seems to restore. This only seems to happen when the text times are very close together, as most are, of course, in a conversation.

This has not happened in the past, but is consistently happening for the last month or so.

Any suggestions?

Thanks...

Thanks Ned.

Additional info: This is my son and we are in the same city so I don't think it's a roaming issue. Also, we are both using Sprint, so no difference in time between carriers.

This is a fairly new problem. I've been using the phone for about 9 months and this has only been happening for about 2.

My son keeps telling me to reset the phone, but I really hate to go thru all that.

Even in the same city it's still possible to roam if, for example, you walk into a building that has a strong repeater for another network installed.

Are the time signatures on the messages off compared to what your phone says? If so, then it's more likely a network bug than a phone bug.

Hey Ned. Thanks for the suggestions.

I asked my son about the roaming, and he said he is usually texting me from home in the evening, and swears he is not roaming... but who knows.

To answer your question, I did notice that the time stamps on the mis-ordered texts were appropriately timed in order. But may not have been the actual time (based on my phone's clock) that they were sent.

I hope I just made sense...

Is it possible that 2 phones on the same Sprint system, that "probably" aren't roaming, could have their clocks mis-matched?

Again, this is a fairly recent problem and is now happening consistently.

Unfortunately, most of my texts come from him, so I can't really narrow it down to his phone.

Thanks again...
