Zman going nuts about Blur..."Motorola, sort Blur out or give it up"

You know, this being my first 'droid, I decided to try out the phone as is. I do have some rants, but mostly LOVE this phone. As pointed out in the article (and I'll have to do more research to learn more about this,) there is a bit of wonkiness with the contacts. I mean, honestly, I have no need to add every facebook friend I have to my list of contacts. If there's someone there that isn't already a contact, I'll add it; don't need the phone doing that for me. That said, I did spend some time updating my gmail contacts: deleted many and updated/added numbers and addresses as applicable. Now if I can just keep gmail from adding every recipient and a group email to my contacts, that will be awesome.

If I choose to just add my Google account to my Atrix (which I'm getting in a few days) and skip the Facebook/Twitter integration, when I download the full Facebook apps from the Market and sign in through those will my Facebook contacts sync with my phone contacts like Blur? Or will they just stay in the app?

Blur is an unmitigated disaster for contacts. I use Exchange, and it absolutely will not correctly sync and display my contacts. I finally installed Improved Email to replace the default contacts and email client, and got things working again. Were it not for that, I would return the phone and not allow it to be purchased within my company.

This is an awesome phone that s absolutely harmed by Blur. Moto needs to give up and move on.
