How to download games without using Android Market?

Hello everyone .. I've just joined this forum after i bought my first Android phone Samsung Galaxy S and as I read there is only few networks that could use the market of Android under the policy of Google SO once i can't get through the market how can i download some apps or games using any alternative way? my SIM network is Lebara.

Download the APK file from whatever source you're getting it from. Transfer it to your phone/SD card storage. Then open up the "Files" app through your phone then choose that APK file and install with the "Package Installer".

Appbrain doesn't have anything, it just lists what is in the Android Market.
