Root FroyoMod Overclocking

Hi There,

I just install the FroyoMod on my milestone..., I know that the mod overclock the phone to 900mhz, so my question is...

Can I manage this settings? in which part?

which is the best combination for the phone/battery? Im not really intresting in graphics improvments and this things,,, only the OS bug fixs and stability

Thanks in advance for your support and sorry by my English.

I don't use FroyoMod but can agree that Milestone Overclock is a pretty straightforward app for handling overclocking. I use the custom values of 900MHz/56vsel and the phone's perfectly stable (and nippy!).

A lot of people use SetCPU to control "profiles" but honestly, Android seems to do a pretty good job of scaling CPU use without help. Usually my milestone idles at 250MHz and only ramps up the clockspeed to the full 900MHz when I'm actively using it.

You can test and play a bit with Motorola Overclock. If you press the menu button and settings afterwards you can enter customized clockspeed and vsel. Once this is done move the slider all the way to the right (full yellow bar) and click on 'Apply'.
In the event that the vsel you applied would be underpowered, this change is not permanent, so your Milestone will restart by itself with the default level (900mhz).

Once you're pretty sure that the phone can handle your setting you can go and edit your 10overclock.ko file.

To give you an idea but my phone is at 850Mhz/47 Vsel. Might or might not work on yours. Just play with Motorola Overclock, you can't do anything wrong.

Hi there, I updated my milestone to 2.2 yesterday and thought that I should overclock it. so I searched "milestone overclock" in the market and found only "Droid overclock" so I installed it, rooted the phone and set the phone to 800mhz, now I'm stuck at the "M" mark at boot. what to do?

EDIT: Solved it, all it needed was a factory reset, though I still wonder how I should do to overclock it :>

Better to make a nandroid backup (in Openrecovery) before you try to change something about your phone, when things go bad you can restore your phone (with all the previous settings) without having to do a hard reset everytime and reinstall everything.

You can't find Milestone Overclock? It is still there in the market. Try using market enabler maybe or download it from the internet. milestone-overclock - Overclocking your rooted Motorola Milestone, Droid, Droid X/2 and others! - Google Project Hosting

As I said before: better you mess around with this app first before making your changes permanent because your Milestone Overclock setting needs to be activated manually after each boot: even if you use a vsel that is too low it will reboot your phone and use the "standard" settings again.

Once you have found settings that are good for your phone you can go to /system/etc/init.d and edit the file 10overclock with your new settings. By doing this you won't have to use Milestone Overclock anymore after every boot.
