HTC Inspire or Moto Atrix

After going through the debacle that was updating the Samsung Captivate to 2.2, I've decided to get a new phone. I'm trying to decide between the Atrix or the HTC Inspire. What would you guys recommend?

Inspire all the way. Better quality. Better screen. More active RAM. Better screen better camera. More dev support. Best manufacturer support and if you read around most have chosen the inspire over the atrix.

The Atrix is the better phone. I've owned both. Plan on bringing a charger to work with you if you want want to use your Inspire at all throughout the day. Enjoy not being able to play any of the Tegra2 games being released. Enjoy being left in the dust as soon as an update is pushed to the Atrix allowing dual core to be accessed, while the Inspire is already at its full potential.

Yea I can tell. Also its smaller and has a pentile matrix which is known for burn in

Pentile isn't known for burn in, AMOLED is known for burn in and until SAMOLED+ all AMOLED screens had the pentile layout.

Honestly, it's fine to like one phone better than another-- but you need to get it into your head, BOTH the atrix and the inspire are great phones. You make stupid, baseless comments about the atrix, and speak of the inspire 4g as if it is this godly piece of tech, and nothing could be improved about it.

Every device has its problems. Stop being such a blind fanboy, and just enjoy your phone, and let other people enjoy theirs. You can't go wrong with either the atrix or the inspire. Stop spreading fanboy nonsense.

I never understood fanboy loyalty. These companies are not nearly as loyal to you as you are to them. If you restrict yourself to liking one company, or one phone-- you are the one missing out. I am a fan of good technology, no matter the company or brand it comes from. The atrix, and the inspire are both great phones. Stop the worship. Please.

I came from the Captivate as well. Now, I have both the Atrix and the Inspire. I'm actually typing this post with the Inspire. However, the Atrix is right beside me.

I think both phones are great. Anyone that says one or the other is inferior, is either dishonest or blinded by fanboyism. That's not to say that they each don't have weaknesses because they do. Only you can decide which of them are important to you.

I love the size of the Inspire. Surfing the web and watching videos are fantastic on the 4.3" screen. The UI is very nice and responds very quickly.

What I don't like is the tiny battery. I've used HTC devices for many years going way back to Windows Mobile. They always seem to hamstring their devices in some way. With the Inspire, it's the battery. Since you can't even replace it with a bigger one of any significance, the issue will remain.

I have to admit that I'm a geek and I love gadgets. The tech in the Atrix called to me. LOL! In all fairness, that tech doesn't really bring a tangible benefit in everyday use (yet). As we see more and more dual core optimization become available, that should change though.

As far as speed and performance, the Atrix and the Inspire are roughly the same. I've conducted many browser tests side by side on both phones. They are both great performers. The Atrix often loads faster if there is heavy Flash content on the page. I should mention that I use LauncherPro rather than the stock launcher on the Atrix. Neither phone exhibits any lag or slowness.

Screens - there is a big difference here between the two. The Atrix is higher resolution and higher pixel density. It's also brighter with a better white presentation. By better, I simply mean it appears more white side by side with the Inspire.

Unfortunately, the Atrix screen is less color saturated and color hue is off for greens and yellows. While I think the Inspire is actually over saturated, it can be more pleasing to view in certain areas like games (ie Words with Friends).

My major concern with the Atrix is the camera. The auto setting leaves MUCH to be desired. I've also done extensive comparison of photos taken with both phones. The Inspire has better color and more options than the Atrix. Again, I find the Inspire's pics to be over saturated but more pleasing to view in most cases. By not using the auto settings, I can get very good pics from the Atrix. But, there are more features on the Inspire.

So, for me, I like the Atrix for the bigger battery, front camera, 16GB storage, 1GB RAM with 818MB usable, and slightly better fit in my pocket. Both phones are great and would satisfy most people. You just have to decide what features are important for you.

ummm whats your point the pentile matrix in the super amoled plus and the qHD has the potential for burn in how is this fanboy. The atrix is not a great phone , many people including myself who have had it for a number of days can attest to it. so please dont come on here and baselessly defend a phone you probably havent even held

I just got my Captivate not too long ago, I feel like its already outdated - thanks for verifying that :) . But still a great piece of tech. I agree with the people who are saying not to be too attached to a brand and/or phone. There are lots of great phones out there, I'm sure either would be a good choice. I've had Nokia, Motorola, and now a Samsung phone - all of them worked great and lasted a long time. Do we really need dual core processor phones already? I'm sure its cool and nice to have it but I'm not sure the software requires it yet.

You're going to get very biased answers towards either phone if you ask in the specific forums, try asking in the Android lounge. You may get a more balanced a fair representation of what you should be looking to get.

Any questions?

Thank you for the first real answer to the OP's question!!!!!

yes thk you..i too have the same opinion..ive used htc devices in the past and i loved em..i waited for the inspire for a long time. But for me considering everthing since both phones have their pros n cons i chose the atrix just for the battery..i need a battery that will last me for a while..if the inspire had a bigger battery..even a 1500..i would switch in a heartbeat but the battery is what i need.

The Atrix is the better phone if you don't want to flash ROMs. I have no problem getting 15+ hours out of my Inspire with moderate use. As hard as it may be to believe some people don't care about their phone being a full fledged gaming platform. I have a ton of amazing huge games on my iPhone and I never play them. Left in the dust with the Atrix gets updated? I'm getting Quadrant scores of 3,000+ on the Inspire. So how exactly will it be left in the dust? I understand that the Atrix will get better benchmarks once the processor is fully utilized but that doesn't mean that the Inspire will be left in the dust. The beauty of the Inspire is it will never be left in the dust because you'll be able to keep it updated after htc stops giving it updates. Can you have Gingerbread on the Atrix right now? You can on the Inspire.

The point is that if you are into flashing ROMs and changing your phone then the Inspire is the phone you want. If you don't care about hacking like that then you would be happier with the Atrix. There's no one single best phone. There are may different phones that will better suit different people. The OP needs to take into account what he wants to do with his phone and then choose the device that best suits his needs. If it's the Atrix then great it's a great device. If it's the Inspire then I don't think he'll be disappointed.

3000+ ................... what program are you using? that's hard to believe.

I don't get it, why are there so many Atrix dudes in here?? This is the Inspire forum, they're both badass phones, you can't convince someone else that your phone is better than theirs no matter what, it's a matter of pride.

PenTile has nothing to do with burn in. AMOLED displays are subject to burn in because if a certain color is displayed on the screen for a long time they wear out quicker than the other pixels. The Atrix has an LCD display which is not usually associated with burn-in. PenTile just means that the pixels are arranged differently than traditional displays.

I recommend this page if you want more info. The Atrix uses a PenTile RGBW LCD display by the way.

The best thing to do is to play with both in the store and decide which you like the best. You will get biased opinions and misinformation wherever you ask this question.

I've tried both devices and love both. The Inspire has a definite edge in design & eye candy and feels more solid. It was a really hard decision but I decided in favor of the Atrix mainly for the vehicle dock and front facing camera(both items I really need).
