.::Incredible S Discussion Thread::.

Not so much worried about the single core as i am about when this will be available in US. if you're talking about 3q then it will REALLY be outdated. If this came out say this month then cool. Wish they would of went samoled (or even amoled) but guess they got fed up with samsung over the original incredible debacle

And don't even get me started on their tablet coming with gingerbread:D

I'm checking out different tech blogs: Engadget, Droid-Life, Android Central, etc

Some make it seem this phone is only coming to UK in Q2, whereas some don't specify and just say "will be available Q2."

My concern is, I'm waiting for the T-Bolt. But I dig this phone a bit more, but not enough to wait forever for it. Does anyone (maybe someone who attended MWC and got to ask the question) know when or if this phone will ever hit US VZW stores?

Well the Phandroid article here: First Look at the Improved HTC Incredible S [Video] | Android Phone Fans
says its coming to verizon 'in due time' and Rob Jackson (owner of phandroid and AF) was there himself. Sounds like 'in due time' is the best we gonna get for now

TB and Inc S seem to be almost exactly the same. Inc is a little smaller and has the Inc shape and feel, seems to be the only difference to me. Would like to get both in my hand and compare screens etc for real. Knowing verizon though it will be awhile before we even here when were getting it state side

It is not really an upgrade to our phone, the specs are the same except the screen, just newer hardwares. Such a let down for the name, Incredible.

I agree it is a let down, though like the TB the hardware has been upgraded, just not as much as we would like. It will be newer/better cpu, etc

the desire s does really? thats a first. i thought samsung phones were the only ones that did this naively

The desire hd plays divx and xvid.
samsung has licenced codecs from divx whereas htc does not.
so samsung develops good video player by matching the hardware to the codecs from divx.
on the other hand, htc does it only by tweaking the available codecs in android code which is not that efficient when it comes to video playback.

hope there are some nice video players in the android market to turn the incredible s in to a nice video player....

Check out Rock Player and VitalPlayer. Both play the most common codecs.

so you know i work at carphone in the UK...we got stock of the Incredible S on friday.

it looks rather wierd the design with the back how it is, the matte black looks smart though...

i LOVE my dhd...and going to a smaller screen has really put me off...tbh i see no point in this fone? it has a smaller screen with lesser feature than the DHD...yet the desire S is to have better features upon launch?

also with all these new handsets coming out with dual core processors...i dont get it?

Can you please (if possible) record some sample video off this phone so we can see if HTC has FINALLY put a proper mic on this phone as every other HTC records tinny audio on the video's. If they have FINALLY fixed this then I might get this to replace my Desire, but if video is still Tinny I might look as something else.

For me a 4" screen is the maximum size I want I have tried the Desire HD but it was just way to big for me, so this is of interest.

Cheers :D
