Handscent or Go Sms??

i used handcent for a while and tried out go sms when handcent was gving me trouble with attaching an mp3. i believe that was a bug that has since been fixed.

the one thing i like better about handcent is that it gives you an option to show the contact pictures beside the bubbles in the conversation.

they are very similar in appearance and level of customization.

i ended up sticking with go sms.

I used handcent until I realized how slow it is. Then switched to Chomp, which was awesome. But Go SMS is just as fast as chomp, and has themes. So I stuck with Go SMS.

And to complete my set I chose Go Launcher and use the same themes on each one :)

Is handcent slow?? I often have realtime IM-ish conversations on handcent and I have not noticed any sort of lag.

The only time there is any delay in receiving texts is when someone sends me one when I'm in the NYC subway. Then I might not get it until 15 or 20 minutes after I reach the surface.

I'm surprised so many people picked GO. I used handcent from 12/2009 to 12/2010, then I tried GO. While I like Handcent very much, GO is very similar and a little faster. I would get very annoyed when I would hit the handcent icon on my LP dock and it would take 5-10 seconds to open the app. I tried GO and it opened with the same number of texts in a fraction of the time. I've been with GO ever since.

I used Handcent exclusively for over a year, first with my Hero then onto my Desire Z. The constant updates and bug fixes for Handcent were starting to annoy me and I just felt it was beginning to "bloat" ... just too many features I'd never use.

I started looking for an alternative, tried Chomp SMS ... which lasted about an hour ... no ads thankyou ... then onto Go SMS.

Go SMS does seem quicker to me and I prefer the interface

Until I find a major flaw, I'm sticking with it for now.
