I was shopping around for a bit looking for a really good car mount for my Captivate. After a bit of research I came up with the iGrip 1263 Extender Kit. I've taken a picture of the barcode for you all.

This is by far the most stable and nicely made universal mount I have found for a reasonable price. On the box it says its designed for trucks and the like, but it isn't too big that it looks ridiculous in my Hyundai. :p It holds the phone pretty damn securely, whether in portrait or landscape, and it has a telescoping arm that can make it come closer to you. (while this makes texting and driving with Swype very easy, I don't recommend it. ;) ). I got this thing on Amazon for $29, and I think it's worth it. Also to be noted, the way this holds the Captivate doesn't block ANY of the side buttons. I'd recommend checking this thing out if any of you were looking into a car mount.

Car mount for that working GPS :D

I've been using the GPS on mine every day... no problems while driving around. I've seen you complaining all over the place... if you are unhappy with Samsung or the phone in general so soon after release... return it. No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to use it. I enjoy mine and was trying to be constructive for others that enjoy theirs as well. :p

Just a joke, just a joke. I'm trying to be constructive too, letting people have a more realistic side of the Captivate optimism. You probably won't believe it, but I LOVE my Captivate. Just want some more response from Samsung.

I myself, am not too keen on Google Maps+Navi. Gotta constantly download maps...

No thanks - I have a GPS already, maps on it's SD card, good for me.
I'd like this to hold my PHONE, thanks, for easy HUD for dialing over the car's bluetooth, mebbe answering texts at stop signs/lights with the Speech-To-Text, etc..

If I need navi, well, I'll use my NAVI unit...
If I need to call, well, I'll use my PHONE

I don't really get your point... its a car mount... You can use it to hold your phone while you do bluetooth calls... or for navigation... or hell, go nuts and do both at the same time! Thats the beauty of having a smartphone... you can use it for as much (or maybe as little, in your case) as you'd like to!

Figured I'd revisit my old thread. I'm glad so far everyone that has used it likes it. I've actually since moved on from my old Captivate and used this mount with an HTC Aria and now the Motorola Atrix. With the Aria it worked fine, but it did tend to hit the volume down button a bit. My solution was to have the screen locked when putting it in, then once it was situated it didn't seem to hit the button. With the Atrix it fits in fine, but the placement of the power cord is problematic. It was great for the Captivate, though! Very sturdy to this day and I've left it on my windshield for months without the suction cup losing its grip.
