Thunderbolt delays...anyone starting to consider other options?

I am actually considering a year off from VZ. They're pissing me off with their ridiculous pricing, their forthcoming tiered data plans, and the fact that their service has holes in it in certain areas of Texas that I travel to frequently in the course of work. My brother has the Evo Shift and loves it, considering going that route...be a lot cheaper than what i pay now for two smart phones and a spare dumb phone.

Suddenly a new contender emerges... HTC Thunderbolt Release: Samsung Infuse 4G Looks Good Phone Reviews

The HTC Thunderbolt has had no release date via Verizon or HTC and the delay seems to be going on a little longer than expected, have you ever considered the Samsung Infuse 4G.

The latest news that we have reported is that the HTC Thunderbolt has seen loads of speculated release dates, like February 24, then the 28th, Now it could be anywhere between March 4 and March 10. We will obviously bring you the updates as soon as they come in.

All those out there that want the HTC Thunderbolt but getting tired of waiting has you ever considered the Samsung Infuse 4G? Thanks to International Business Times they have put the two handsets side-by-side in the specifications comparison, see what you think.

The Samsung Infuse 4G will be with AT&T and we all know that the HTC Thunderbolt is for Verizon, both phones are 4G LTE network. The Thunderbolt features a 4.3-inch 480 x 800 pixel TFT capacitive touch-screen display whereas the Infuse 4G has a 4.5-inch 480 x 800 pixel Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch-screen display. Looking good for the Infuse 4G smartphone.

On the camera side of things the HTC Thunderbolt wins here because even though both handsets come with 8-megapixel 3264

Infuse = At&t :rolleyes:

I am leaning to the Bionic or Stealth. Caveats being Bionic is probably June and then probably too late for unlimited 4G (if happens at all).

Issue with Stealth is if dual core or not. If it has same the chipset as current Sammy's- not an option then for me.

May be "forced" into Thunderbolt, but need to know if 4G will be unlimited with TB and grandfathered or not.

There is a website www.gazelle.com that buys used devices. The Droid X will get you $160+ if it is in good condition. An Eris in good condition can get you $77 (I just tried it to see what they'd pay for one)

Gazelle is actually the store I bought my Droid X from (on the way). However, after I purchased it I noticed "Defect: Light scratches on the screen." I went OCD looking over this thing before I purchased it and do not recall this being there. At least they have free returns. I'll see how bad it is when it arrives.

The deal Ebay has going right now with the instant sale is a better deal. The Droid X goes for a minimum of $200.

The only problem with the "Stealth" is it's a SamDUNG. They NEVER live up to expectations and once they release a new phone, they forget about it! They may NEVER get an update!

Been the SamDUNG route before. Swore not to make THAT mistake ever again...

I actually asked a VZW rep at the store I go to about one of the Samsungs, he said that they do not update the phones at all and that it has Bing all over it instead of Google. Then he leaned in and said, but if you root and rom it like me you have nothing to worry about, I laughed and showed him my OG droid with CM7...

So yea Samsung makes a good phone you just have to root it to get the most out of it.

All I know is that if the 10th rolls around and I don't have a TB in my hands, or in my Verizon store...I'm done. Is anyone else fed up? I mean...I know Verizon hasn't actually released a date...but im losing my mind. I'll just go back to the Evo and make do.

The 17th is the day I pass on the TB. If I don't have it on the 17th then I will wait for something better.

Thinking like this is why I still only have my G1.

I will still get the TB unless something is officially announced to be releasing this month and has more of what I am looking for than the TB does.

But I will stick with a 1-yr contract (if possible) so I can upgrade to a new device sooner.

I couldn't wait any longer and got the Droid X last Sunday. This is due to constant dropped calls on AT&T + iPhone at my new home office in South Austin. Also, work trips to Vegas have sucked for AT&T and the iPhone. I plan to spend the $35 to return it for the TBolt as long as it comes out within my 14 days (3/13). If it doesn't come out by next weekend, my options are:

1) Exchange it for a different Android to try out on VZ
2) Give T-Mobile a try (neighbor seems to have no problems and they have 4G in Austin)
3) Keep the Droid X (it's really impressed me)

Sprint is also out of the question. My friend drops calls on Sprint at my house and CLEAR sux at my house.

If you are in an area with good TMO coverage, I swear by them. If I wasn't going on a VZ family plan, I wouldn't make the switch and I would keep TMO. I also travel a lot and never have a problem. I think only certain subway stations in Boston and at midnight during NYE are the only real times I haven't had service and my gf who has VZ does. Go figure. Just my .02

The X is a really nice phone that has had most of the bugs worked out by now. It will serve you well if that is what you decided to stick with.
