Root suggest a kernel

I'm thinking of changing from my stock kernal to a new or custom one. any good ones out there some one can suggest. if you could also include some pros and cons and maybe a web site where I could read up on it.

hold up need to find out what kinda rom I have. I would assume it is sence being that its htc. its: 2.6.32.17-see557fd, htc-kernel@and18-2#15. ANY ideas?

if you look at my sig there are plenty of references that will help you understand what kernels are and also where to get them. the kernel in my sig is a good one to start.

i was reading an old thred talking about chevy vs droid3 and it seems by reading that there are kinks in kernels out there. and that they are all not 100% full prof. How much time after knowing exactly how to flash different kernels does it take on avarage cause it sounds like some of the kernels are trial to find one that works well for you and your phone.

Thanks for the links got a lot out of them. HMMM never thought there was this much room to adjust my phone. its awesome I kinda got an idea of what kernel i want to flash now just need to find it... thanks again

yeah every kernel will react differently on different phones. so sometimes it is hard to say what will work for you. have you tried setcpu? it really works great. so here is a guide on how to use it.http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/210253-setcpu-guide.html

I have always used this kernel. I am currently on the same Combination!

I needed a netarchy greater than 4.2.x due to the new camera hardware or software. It breaks my camera if I dont use 4.3.x. So if you have a newer phone (0004) you most likely want to go with 4.3.x.

yea I have setcpu funny you say that cause that is the reason i started wanting to change kernels. After playing with the app I started noticing things that were different from my my phone compared with others and it all started with the kernels the potential. I got a question???? Setcpu has been notifing me to temp problems. its set to alarm me at 38.9c. Is that to low. whats a good temp scale to go with for the EVO

i really do not use temp. as a profile. my phone does not seem to run hot. even when charging i think i have seen i get to maybe 35c.

really 35c. Not that my phone was not reaching hi temps before( CAUSE i WOULD NOT HAVE NOTICED) but ever sence I have had setcpu I have been kinda watching it. 15 min of playning "Angry Birds puts me and 39c. BUT i NEVER GET ALARMS WHEN CHARGING??????????

i got up to like 47 c this morning...i fell asleep last night while playing with my evo...woke up this morning and it was in recovery and under my pillow practically on fire lol. Its only funny because everything is ok.
