Root Easy guide to update to Galaxo or GAOSP!

Lelouch,

I finally succeeded in upgrading the phone to GAOSP.
I had a problem with a missing adbwinApi.dll file but I solved that.
It works perfectly. But there is still a problem wit Blue Tooth.
I only can transfer small files. The transfer of pictures stops with 10 to 15%
Have you got a solution?? Or is this still a bug in Android.
Once more. I am really greatfull for your help.

Greetings from Holland

One last problem.
Everything works perfectly (Only battery life is much shorter)
And I cannot set my email. I have 2 accounts. Gmail and Upcmail. I used the same settings as my Samsung Jet.
But the only thing I get is: Setting is not complete. No server connection!
What am I doing wrong??
Thanks in advance.
Greetings

Go to Settings>Accounts & sync settings. Can you tell us what you have there?
Touch the account you have there (google one) and enable the next three options (Contacts, Gmail and Calendar) and try again. If it doesn't work remove (all) the account(s). And try adding the account (google one) and give it a go again.

Hello

After
fastboot.jpg
my phone boot normaly. And I've done this to : " When I tried to do so, it wouldn’t do anything. It would wait for the device, then my Galaxy would boot normally. To solve this, open the device manager on your computer and turn the Galaxy off again. You are going to boot into fastboot mode again, but you’ll have about 15 seconds to check the device manager (open it beforehand), and see if there’s a new device that needs drivers. Mine was something like Android 1.0 (with a yellow exclamation mark, meaning that there are no drivers). You’ll do the exact same thing as you did with the ADB driver, using the exact same driver (right click the unknown device, update the driver, select from a list, next, Have disk, Browser, then find the same “android_usb.inf”. Check the beginning of the guide if you don’t remember what to do.) You'll need to do this during the 15 seconds the Android 1.0 will appear, so you have to be quick."

Know anyone what seems to be the problem?

Thanks a ton for uploading this easy guide....It realy helped me update my galaxy .It feels heaven to have the new galaxy.Everything works perfectly.:D:D:D:D:D:D.

Those who are facing problem with 'Android 1.0' problem, just download the ADB drivers from this link- http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GGAPPHIE .Unzip it and first install ADB drivers and then in fastboot mode(during 15 sec)update the driver by giving the folder location to the unzipped folder.Remember this ADB driver is not signed, but it will solve ur problem.

Hi everyone

First of all thanks for making this guide - its given ppl like me the courage to go ahead with this process!

I've gone through almost all the steps, but whenever i try to apply the zip file it goes "installation failed"

just to confirm: after flashing the recovery screen, i first did the nandroid backup, then wipe/factory reset (theres no confirmation e.g operation complete for this step right?), then apply permissions, then i apply the zip but the failure message comes up.

i've tried renaming the gaosp zip file to "update.zip" and applying it using "update.zip from sd" but that gets another error msg, namely "installation aborted". i've tried using the galaxo.zip (just in case the gaosp file was corrupted) but the same error occurs.

If someone could give me a few pointers/hints would be much appreciated. thanks

edit: THE HOME KEY IS THE ONE THAT BRINGS YOU BACK TO YOUR HOME SCREEN (BETWEEN THE BACK BUTTON AND THE ON OFF BUTTON!, I THOUGHT THE HOME KEY WAS THE OK BUTTON DURING RECOVERY!) doh

I know it's been a while since you guys posted anything on this page but if someone can see this I really need help. I flashed and installed GAOSP and Gapps as shown above ... working perfectly but one thing. When I push the ''End Call'' button the screen closes wich is normal, it's entering in some kind of sleep mode or something ... but if I don't use the phone in the next 10 to 15 minutes I can't do anything with it ... I tried every single button possible, I tried to push/hold the power button as if it was closed .... nothing ... It refuses to do anything. The only thing that I can do is to remove the battery and put it back ... then it reboots ... Since I'm not using my phone every 10min, I'd like to know what point I've missed or what setting I need to change to avoid this. Thanks a lot to all the saviors out there who can help me because I don't want to go back to android 1.6...

Is this happening with your wifi turned off? If it's on, try changing the wifi sleep policy to never. ;)

I have another question... Is there somekind of way to make GAOSP faster ... 'Cause I'm having a hard time running it. What I liked about galaxo is that is was fast as hell ... But now with GAOSP I'm a bit disapointed ... The only reason I switched to GAOSP is because of all the apps I couldn't run with Galaxo ... So is there a way to make GAOSP faster ( and how ) if not is there a way to run all the apps on galaxo...

Thanks

Going from 1.5 to Beta 3 should work.

Start over, but this time:

-Remove the battery
-Boot into recovery mode
-Wipe (factory reset)
-Fix package permissions
-Apply GAOSP beta 3
-Reboot normally, you should get into the os
-Reboot into recovery mode again
-Fix package permissions
-Apply the GAOSP zip
-Reboot normally

Make sure to wait for a couple minutes when it's booting. ;)

Keep us posted! :)
