Samsung Stealth V will be dual core?!?!

Very true.. However with there only being a handful of LTE devices released this year I would think there would be quite a bit of DEV support for the Stealth. Especially considering the dual core and top notch specs, the Devs have to be excited about seeing what the hardware is capable of.

I sure hope so at least..

More Details Emerge for Samsung Stealth V FCC Filing - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

Maybe there isn't any hard proof yet. It does seem however that many of the newer posts regarding this phone are saying dual core. I'm watching this phone for sure. If it does in fact have, LTE, SAMOLED+, Dual Cores, & of course the unlocked bootloader, this will likely be my next phone. If one of those pieces aren't there, I'm probably back to Thunderbolt w/ a close watch on Bionic.

If it has dual core, I will get it too. I want the super amoled+ screen and the Atrix/Bionic screen is not getting great reivews and the higher resolution slows down frame rates in games. I am thinking that it is bigger than the S2 because it needs a bigger battery for the LTE radio.

If not I will wait for dual core. LG is doing the same thing with Verizon's LG Revolution which is single core phone when Verizon could be getting the X2 dual core phone which is already out in Europe.

I can't help thinking Verizon made a deal with Motorolla that no dual core phones will be released until at least a month after the Bionic.

Right now, Droid Bionic is the only phone that's officially said to have both dual core and 4G LTE. Given the complexity of putting those together in a phone, I can understand it takes a while. LG Optimus 2X is GSM/HSPA+ phone, so that's out of picture for Verizon.
I'm curious what Samsung plans for their next flagship on Verizon. Would it be dual core Stealth as rumored here or SGS2 with 4G LTE?

Dual Core Stealth will earn my money.

Basically at this point in time I will throw my money at the first dual core phone that comes out.

Samsung does look very promising, and considering my laptop and TV are both Samsung I trust their tech.

Not a good sign if only has 1gb internal storage. I doubt this has dual core.

That's a good point, but I hope you're wrong. The 720p video capture and 5mp camera are fine and smooth on the current 1GHz Galaxy S series processor/PowerGPU combo. But if the 8MP and 1080p video with HDMI output rumors hold true for the Stealth, I would think it would at least stretch the abilities of the current hummingbird processor a bit ...

There are still some conflicting reports on the Droid Charge (Stealth) processor. I'm betting on it being single core hummingbird as originally announced at CES. But if Sammy changed mind and put dual core (either tegra2 or exynos) that would be welcome surprise for me.

Form factor wise, it's not any better or worse than Bionic. I think all LTE phones will be somewhat bulky due to the size of LTE radio, modem chip. I have to see them myself, but I bet that Droid Charge will have best looking screen among four VZW LTE phones.

I wish I could have a dual core without the stupid 4G battery hogging relatively untested and unproven technology that most Verizon users won't be able to utilize for at least a year anyways ... :(

Who announced it was single core at CES? The best I think anyone got on the specs was ambiguous, unconfirmed responses to hands-on questions directed towards Verizon reps.

Boy, I really WANT the Stealth to be dual core. I also would like it to be bit more aesthetically attractive than the pics I've seen so far. I don't think I can do anything about the looks, and although I can't do anything about the processor either, my gut is telling me not to expect a dual core. I have no idea why. I WANT it to be a dual core. Perhaps because of VZ's iLust with Apple relations have soured with Moto to the extent that they'd consider releasing a brand other than Moto as their first serious dual core phone, and not only that but also possibly with a "Droid" official moniker? Wow. Sour relations indeed. The Bionic is already a good downgrade from the Atrix. It's also coming out later than the Atrix.

This is all mere speculation of course, and I sincerely hope the Stealth is dual core. Perhaps with a Droid nameplate Verizon and Samsung will band together to prevent previous Galaxy S update woes from repeating themselves with a new, powerful, high demand flagship device.

One thing I'm excited about, regardless, is that pics of the Samsung have an HDMI port on the side. This is a good sign that the final model will carry HDMI. Another thing that will likely wow the crap out of us is if it really ships with an 8MP camera. Samsung's 5MP camera already impresses, offering quality near to the iPhone 4 in photo and video capture. Samsung makes pretty good cameras these days. I think an 8MP camera along with the rumored 1080p video capture will knock people's socks off compared to all other current smartphones, even the much improved 8MP camera on the TB.

BTW, I just found these on SGS2 forum here. This shows the screen quality of SAMOLED+ which Stealth will also have. I'm also impressed by more polished look of new TouchWiz and fluidity of it. The first one is by Russian, so you may try google translate.

I don't understand why Sammy is not preparing dual core/LTE combo like Bionic. Maybe they have that in the works for next year?

Of course, this is assuming Stealth is single core 4G LTE and SGS2 is dual core 3G phone. If that's the case, I will go for SGS2 for its screen, dual core+1Gb DDR2, slim body. Oh, I should check out Bionic, LG revolution too before passing all the LTE phones.

I'm sure they've fixed the file system on the Stealth ... well, I would hope, anyways. But even with the improvements devs have made on non-stock ROMs for the Fascinate, there are still times when there's a bit of lag here, a bit of stutter there. If you keep it bone stock with the 2.2 leaks or stock 2.1, the phone is very noticeably laggy.

I did a personal comparison between the Atrix and the Fascinate streaming Flash video. The Atrix was much smoother, and I'm going to attribute it to the dual core processor it has. Adobe has been trying to enhance their multi-core support on all flash-enabled platforms. The Atrix was actually choppier and more laggy than my Fascinate in most normal operation, mind you, but flash video was much smoother. I thought that it might be because the atrix was on AT&T's HSPAA+ or whatever it's called, and my VZ phone was merely on 3G EVDO. So I repeated the test at home on my speedy wireless N, not 15 feet of open space from the router.

The results were almost identical.

I SHUDDER to see how the last generation Hummingbird is going to handle 1080p video capture, an 8MP camera, a front facing camera, an HDMI port, and Verizon's new LTE radio ...

I think android went to sh** on Verizon, post iPhone. I apologize for writing language I almost never use, but as I see the Atrix, the Optimus 3D (dual core PLUS 3D), the Samsung Galaxy S II (dual core), the LG Optimus X (dual core) and other bestly phones headed to other networks, while we get the dual core but otherwised much reduced spec Bionic, and the single core Revolution (with the same CPU as the Thunderbolt, just months later...)

I really wish I could go to another carrier, but I'm stuck. I am glad that some of you live in areas where you can choose, and frequent areas that have coverage from your favorite provider, but VZ is still king in Wyoming & Montana, and I spend too much time in those states to be able to change.

Having a previous generation single core processor in the "Stealth" will destroy its market appeal. It's a phone that simply shouldn't exist, and a waste of an FCC approval. If you're going to do something, do it right. The Stealth has so much "win" about it, and so much potential, but when you give it a relatively inferior CPU you're pissing it all away. I was really hoping for this to be the device. I'm not impressed with the TB's battery life, the Atrix's screen was a surprising disappointment (I did extensive comparing of photos, video, games, and web browsing between the Inspire/TB, Atrix, and Fascinate). In addition, I couldn't believe how choppy it felt compared to my single core Fascinate, although I run a clean setup with the smooth ADW.Launcher, and could run that on any android phone. The screen, however, was a big let down. That's another phone that had so much going for it - gobs of RAM, monster CPU, fingerprint reader, fantastic form factor ... but they locked third party apps at the carrier level (rooting bypasses this, but for non-root users they are denied apps such as Amazon's marketplace), and still skinned it with blur. Even if it's a limited blur, it's still blur. And the pentile and washed out colors are no fun to look at at all.

The Thunderbolt and Desire, however, have excellent, bright, clear and punchy screens.

Now, if it's some kind of much improved hummingbird, like what the Thunderbolt has in the way of its much improved Qualcomm CPU, then it will still be a good phone to consider. The Thunderbolt is quite speedy, and the CPU, even thought it's single core, is as good as it gets for single core CPUs in phones right now. (edit - removed)

We'll see. I still have the gut feeling that it's only single core, and the latest rumor releases only say the same thing - that it's going to be a regular ol' hummingbird. That makes NO SENSE for a device with exceptionally advanced HD content capture and viewing capabilities. No sense at all.

Be careful of what you are saying about GPUs in snapdragon vs hummingbird. I pointed it out in the other thread. The one in Tbolt is 2nd gen Snapdragon with Adreno 205 GPU and that's still inferior to PowerVR SGX540 in Hummingbird. MyTouch 4G on t-mobile has the same CPU and benchmarks show that Galaxy S running 2.2 easily blows it away in graphics, gaming benchmarks by wide margin. The 3rd gen dual core snapdragon will boast much improved Adreno 220 GPU, but it still remains to be seen how it does against Tegra2, Exynos, OMAP4. I guess we will know soon since Evo 3D just came out.

I'm also a bit disappointed at Steath having single core if true. But we don't know yet if Sammy polished it a bit like 1st vs 2nd gen snapdragon and a little higher cloak speed. I will see how it benchmarks once Steath is released.

This is incorrect, at least partially. I have seen only one review (albeit at one of my favorites!) that shows the PowerGPU ahead of the new Adreno 205. Every other benchmark I've seen shows the Adreno beating the 540. I'll go hunt for the links...

http://androidevolutions.com/2010/1...wervr-sgx540-hummingbird-in-samsung-galaxy-s/

In addition, Adreno looks to have hardware accelerated support for Flash video, which would be another important improvement over the PowerGPU.

Edit: Well, the more I look, the more I think it's a wash:

http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010...-vs-sgx540-htc-desire-hd-vs-samsung-galaxy-s/

I found that the multiple articles showing the Adreno ahead were all quoting the same graphs in my first link. It appears that in more comprehensive testing, the GPUs trade blows.

Looks like a bunch of muddy water, but I retract the blanket statement that the Adreno is "better" because it is better at some things and worse at others.

I know on another message board that someone said it was reported to be single core and linked the youtube video (probably from one of the blogs). However, it was pure interpretation as 1) it was a Verizon rep, not Samsung, showing off the Stealth (unnamed at the time) and 2) the comment was an ambiguous one of exclusion, not specifically stated. When asked if it was a 1GHz processor, she said "all our 4G phones will be 1GHz except the Bionic which is dual core". The fact that the phone was relatively unfinished at CES and the availability of Samsung's Exynos was practically nil at the time, it could have been originally built with the Hummingbird, no doubt. Add to that the phone has likely been in testing since the Fall making it more likely that some circulated test units would also be Hummingbird-based, like the tipster who leaked pictures of his phone. Logic dictates that with the MWC announcement of the Galaxy S2, Samsung's 2011 portfolio of flagship phones would likely all fall under the same hardware set, but this is Verizon so who knows. The million dollar question is "what went through the FCC?" I guess we'll find out eventually.
