Root Step by Step Rooting Instructions: for Huawei Ascend

Ah ok. Thanks! I was just curious.

When I do go through with this, I will follow each step exactly as you say. Better safe than bricked.

LOL!!! True!! Good luck with it! :)

I got Cache Cleaner NG. What else do I need?

For root users I recommend Titanium Backup, SetCPU, Rom Manager, Root Explorer, and Juice Defender.

I wouldn't bother with any task killers or antivirus apps. You don't need them and they just slow you down.

I have titanium pro and overclock widget and android assistant. ( its like 12 apps in one program ). I did download ROM manager but didn't know how to use it. I will search for the other to that you mentioned. Oh and did find the font but it was only one and it was the DEFAULT . Do I have to download the fonts from somewhere else?

What launcher are you using. If you're using LPP or GO or ADW they give you options for using different fonts. I think the stock launcher is more limited.

Just rooted my phone. Thank you.

I seem to be having a problem with the Titanium Pro Key Root. It has an empty apps tab, an empty log tab, and a setting tab.

I don't see: "Tap the tab in the middle that says Backup/Restore".

What am I doing wrong?

Don't freak.
You need to install the free version of titanium back up then the key. Or vice verce as the root key is just a key to unlock the donate version features such as freezing.
I have seen this question all over the net, maybe someone can put it on the first post with the initial instructions to clear up the confusion.

I have Titu-Pro. Should I FREEZE or UNINSTALL crap like Uno and Midnight Bowling? I am kind of confused on what to do between the two.

Also, if you go to MENU > PREFERENCES > Auto Sync TB Settings. Does anybody have this checked? Just wondering if there's any disadvantages to having it set to auto-save.

Edit: Now overclocked to 600 using Overclock Widget.

I downgraded from an Evo due to my budget, so you can imagine the ascend feels reaaaaaaly slow to me. I'll get over it. You can't beat the price on metro.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. All of my other apps that have been purchased have an "open" option in market. The TiBu app has one, but it is ghosted. I just can't find it anywhere. Is there a function to search the phone?

I found my pro at the bottom of the backup/restore list in the free version. Just restored it and its there and running.

ive been lurking for a while Jazz, just reading here and there but knew i had to sign up once i got a droid..luckily my htc wizard didn't die until this morning... usb/power port is loose
R.I.P 2005-2011-tmobile mda/htc wizard unlock on a att gophone prepaid sim, overclocked to 286mhz running XDA 6.5 for winmo... you will truley be missed lol

LOL Dude! Aren't those kind of goodbyes truly wonderful! Buhhhbye...uhhh...buhhhbye...hahaha :D

I'm rooted!!! Thanks Jazz and everyone else.

Now for the next step of backup and bloatware removal.

It makes us all happy to see you happy with it, Rock!!! :D

I have Go launcher. And I found the font but it only has one which is the DEFAULT.

Hey Reddlocks! Be sure to download HomeSwitch (free) from the market. It's great for switching from one home launcher to the next. You have to go into 'preferences' to find out how to set the fonts. Some launchers have more fonts than others. You just have to try them out to see which you like. Minimalistic text is a good app with lots of 'font styles'.

Don't freak.

I wish this was in CAPITAL LETTERS on the dang app!!! GRRR...so confusing to so many!!! ;)

I really don't like having a lot of things auto-syncing on my phone. It makes it work too hard. The less stuff running in the background the better performance. And when in doubt...FREEZE! LOL :)

The guide recommends freezing rather than uninstalling. I froze those apps.

Good call, la sal! :)

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. Just making sure since the word "uninstall" is used in a few posts further down from the original.

Ok I found Titanium Pro
I had the free version which is great, but also bought the pro version.
I had scrooled down to the bottom of the backup/restore list in the free version and it was at the bottom just tap and restore and working.

write Icarus on the list for Jazz,

hahaha virgo!!! LOL :D

YAYYYYYY!!! LMAO!!!

SUCCESS!!

Now that I'm rooted I have a lot of apps that need to be moved to my SD card. How safe is the Icarus ROM? What level of difficulty is the installation?

I'm not sure. Jazz has been on me a couple times to do it. I'm on call for work until Wednesday, so I might read it a couple times and try it then. At least I get money Friday so if I brick it, well. lol. Nvidia is testing a quad core,

I seemed to have lost the option to use "live wallpapers". I am using a Huawei Ascend, Android 2.1, and I also used Titanium Backup, but I don't know which file to reinstall. Thank you for your help...PLEASE!

I think thats what its called, check on titn pro. go to backup/restore. Live Wallpaper Picker 2.1 update, I think thats it.
