Is there ever going to be an upgraded evo?

4" Super Amoled

No thanks. Not going back down from 4.3 (Give me 4.5 in the same form factor, and that's fine.. otherwise, keep 4.3) and I can do without a Pentile matrix as well.

Dual core, more RAM and internal storage, higher res

Oh, and if we're really dreaming.. make the SD slot externally accessible! (oh, and make it support SDXC)

But mainly? Give me back my one year upgrade to get it with.

4.3 inch screen is a minimum requirement for me. Four inches (even with higher resolution) is a non-starter. Dual core, new Sense, and Gingerbread (upgradeable to Ice Cream) would be nice too.

That said, I expect Sprint to announce the next EVO during CTIA later this month. If Sprint doesn't announce an EVO 2 soon, I will not be renewing my contract with Sprint. I'm sure I'm not alone either. Stakes are too high for Sprint to not announce the EVO's successor.

I'm not gonna get my hopes up, though. Sprint can't seem to handle success...

I spoke to a Sprint store rep yesterday. He said that there will be a EVO 2 and it will be released around Christmas time. It will have a dual core processor in it. That's about all I know.

I am sure we will know more on March 22nd. If want was told to you is true, then that would mean Sprint has something else in mind for their flagship this summer. If the EVO gets Gingerbread soon I will be happy with it until the EVO 2 is released. Either way the EVO is still, and will continue to be, a good phone.

I hope this is your sense of humor peeking thru because if there is one thing to never, ever, ever do....it's actually believe anything that any Sprint Store Rep tells you. They are fools (most of them, not all). I have been in stores and heard the most ridiculous things...2 months after Epic release I heard 2 reps tell a customer that the Epic had 2.2, wrong...I could go on and on so you're better off looking online to XDA, PPCgeeks, Android Forums, PhoneDog and Boy Genius Report before you listen to some idiot wearing a Sprint shirt pretending like he actually knows what the hell he is talking about.

All this about the new sense and whatnot... why bother? Cyanogen mod will make the phone as fast or faster than with a sense rom. Plus, after reading about all this HTC IQ and Sprint IQ Agent crap running on any rom that's remotely tied to sprint with any affiliation, Cyanogen is looking to be what's on my Evo come either tomorrow or Tuesday; whenever my laptop gets here.

Im pretty sure the Thunderbolt is HTC's newer version of the evo, just not sold by sprint. which makes me happy, cuz the specs on the thunderbold sound like they fixed a few key problems the Evo has, which only means when the new Evo comes out, even more problems will be fixed:) Too bad im not in for an upgrade for another 20month... Oh well... Im thinkin' quad core by then;)
