Would you recommend it?

That depends in your current device now. Personally, I was an iphone 4 user and im very strongly considering switching back due to a number of reasons. The Atrix battery life so far is absolutely horrible. Im barely getting 7 hours out of this thing. Taking off the charger at 7, getting home at 2, my battery is at 20%. As far as performance goes, its on par with any other 1ghz android device I've used. The flash in the browser works like a charm, but it isn't terribly smooth in terms if scrolling. Zooming is pretty good, but if you're accustomed to an iphone, you will probably be disappointed. The screen--its nothing special at all. Its pretty sharp; text is very readable fully zoomed out. The sensitivity is good, but the pentile arrangement isn't very good.. the colors look pretty washed out. It just kind of feels like an average screen. Despite being 960x540, a samoled screen definitely looks better. Build quality--its pretty cheap feeling. Especially next to an Inspire or iPhone 4. Even though this thing may be specced like a monster, it really does not feel like one. I expect that its mostly the android software to blame, but in the end, to answer your question, I think I would recommend the Inspire over this device if you're set on android. If you're on the fence about an iPhone, go with that. The network speeds are disappointing, and the device really just feels like it was kind of rushed to be the first dual core on the market. That's just one user's opinion though; if you're not as picky as I am you will probably be very satisfied. Hope this helps!

I would recommend the Atrix, I came from an Iphone 3GS which I did like for about the first 3 months I had it until the Iphone 4 came out and my 3G speeds plummeted and consistently dropped calls about 4 to 5 per day even with full bars of service. It's apparent as of now AT&T's network favors the Iphone 4 at the moment, I can tell that even with my Atrix.

I haven't dropped a call with the Atrix since I started using it..The phone itself is awesome not a lot of applications out there made for the power of the Atrix yet. Battery life for me has been great I can get 10 hours of heavy use from it until I drop to 30% life left. My Iphone was always on the charger.

It all boils down to what you want out of a phone.

Funny how the second poster had an iP4, the next had an iP3GS, and I have an iP3G. Anyway, the OS is screaming fast compared to my iP3G (which is a pretty old model by now). Everything I did on my iPhone I can do quicker on Android, it seems. I absolutely love it, and it doesn't really feel cheap to me. Although the back is plastic instead of metal, it feels well-built. However, I got it a few days ago and so far battery life has been pathetic. I'm hoping it will get significantly better in a few days as this is what happened to many posters over on the huge Atrix battery life thread. If not, I'll try a hard factory reset, and if that doesn't help I'll exchange it. The battery life is probably the only negative I've found about this phone.

And I've had all of the iPhone's sequentially except the iPhone 4, which I have used frequently.

It's definitely worth the money. I really like the Android experience much better than iOS, and that plays a big role in your enjoyment of the device itself. There's this constant feeling of, "I've never been able to do that before!" But that's obviously a feeling that I get coming from iOS myself.

As for the hardware itself, it's a little disappointing in living up to the hype in my opinion. Just every so slightly. But, I think it's the most capable Android phone currently out there, although that most likely will change soon. I just get the feeling that they could have put their specs to better use. I mean, this thing is more competent in the specs department as the iPad 2 as far as I know, at the iPad 2 from what I can tell runs a lot faster and smoother than the Atrix in general.

However, I think some of this may be attributed to blur. After installing Launcher Pro and a different lock screen, I can safely say lag has been quite rare, if I experience it at all.

Although, that does not change things like the browser. I don't understand why my browser on this beast of a phone doesn't scroll or zoom in properly all of the time. I'm not actually talking about pinch-to-zoom as I think that is quite smooth. I'm talking about double tapping and having a little lag and not having the columns on a web page resize properly. And the scrolling is a little sketchy sometimes too. And I know that there are other browsers on the Market that may be slightly different, but from what I have experienced they are all relatively similar.

But these are just minor nuances that really don't affect the overall awesome experience of the device. I'm not sure about other phones, but the Atrix was able to play n64oid, a newly released N64 emulator, extremely well, and I'm not sure if many other phones are capable of that yet.

And one more thing about this battery, why are so many people having problems? That's a little annoying for those people (including me) where they have to do a little tweaking to get it working. My battery life has increased substantially after the factory reset, but I don't understand why I had to do that only days after purchase.

So do I recommend it? Completely. It is the best phone at the moment, and has some pretty unique features if you are into the docks and all. But even without that, it's a beast and will remain one for a while.

That is until I decide to purchase a quad core later this year..

I would highly recommend the atrix.

I had an iPhone 3gs and an upgrade due so I switched to the iPhone 4 and returned it within days for the atrix. This phone is awesome so far and so much better than the locked down iPhone system.

It is super fast and I love having flash. The display is gorgeous and I feel like I am learning something g new this phone can do every day. As an android user years ago it is nice to have this system again.

In regards to battery I think it is far superior to the iPhone. I used my atrix from 8am to 4pm while at a volleyball tournament texting scores, taking amazing pictures and lots of great video footage. Also surfed web and talked on the phone. I still had 40% battery at the end of the day.

Just received my Atrix at the other side of earth from where it was shipped out.

It's true what qcom said about how there's always a lot to explore in the Android OS, I don't see it getting boring as fast as it did with my previous phone (iphone 3gs). I was an iphone user who wouldn't use it unless it's jailbroken, And I'm already seeing that even a jailbroken iphone customizability is nothing compared to a stock out-of-the-box Android phone.
I'd say if you're someone who enjoys (not just don't mind) exploring and implementing a lot of different tweaks then the atrix/android phones are really fun and very practical.
I heard some people who were new (I'm new too) to Android OS saying it's complicated but I disagree. Android phones can be used just as casual as iphones.

There's absolutely nothing I miss from my 3GS except the SIM card which will be relocated to the Atrix once it's unlocked! :)

I highly recommend the Atrix even though I had to return mine for an Inspire.

I actually upgraded to an Inspire first. But after 2 weeks, I exchanged it for the Atrix. I absolutely loved the Atrix. It is fast, smooth, the screen is very sharp, and even though the phone is plastic, it just feels "right". Very good phone. I will say this, even though I am familiar with Android, it did take me a couple of days to fully "get" the Atrix. I recommend anyone who gets the phone to give it a week or so before they decide if they like it or not.

I only returned the phone because I was losing my data connection periodically in and near my house. I tried two different handsets and both had the same problem. AT&T tried to send out new signals, new sims, etc., but nothing worked. I never had problems with my Captivate, Inspire, or multiple Iphones losing the data signal in my area, so I ended up returning the Atrix.

In looking over various forums, I have not seen many people, if any at all, complaining of that problem. For whatever reason, I had a problem in my area. I wish it wasn't the case, because I loved the Atrix and highly recommend it.

Atrix is a good phone... i think its little too hyped up than it really is.. Ive owned two sets and both had problems. I finally got sick of it and switched to an inspire which im happy with for now.
both my atrix showed signs of lag even with launcherpro, battery life wasnt that good, restarted on me twice, screen res and camera just ok. so would i recommend it?? maybe if you get a flawless one. right now my inspire battery is going on 8hrs with 50% stil left. but who knows im sure il find something wrong with the inspire and return to the atrix.:)

OK a few hours into the Atrix! My answer to recommending this phone right know is NO. I'll probably just stick with my Fascinate until vzw or Sprint brings something really good to the market. Its not really an at&t thing, I mean the speeds are OK and livable here in NYC. It's not blazing fast on they're supposedly 4G...but its very manageable!

My real gripe is this BS camera, camcorder, and screen! No way is this thing rocking the best screen out there, the colors are completely washed and look terrible. The Droid X had a better screen! And I wont even get into how it looks next to the Fascinate, not anywhere near the same league! The camera is a joke, pictures look terrible! And the camcorder is no better then a blackberry 9700. I really wanted to like this phone, but it looks like it's going back to the Death Star!

FYI....on a good note, calls seem crystal clear.

It's not a bad phone but it will never live up to its pre-release hype. Nothing could. As far as recommending it, a hesitant, yes- but that would depend on the person. No doubt it's exponentially more customizable than any iPhone will ever be but with that said, for the average person who just wants everything to just work- get an IP4.

I had G1 and after using G1 I am loving Atrix. For 130$ this is best device..... Not very big screen and very good battery life (compare to my old G1)......
Only problems so far-
1) Fig print scaner hangs few times but Moto confirmed that it will be fixed in next update
2) VOIP call quality is really bad....
I called using Ipod touch skype and same time using Atrix and Atrix had many disturbances (literally not able to hear anything on my laptop -skype call) and ipod had clear sound....but I guess its rare that I will not need to call (VOIP call) from my cell in real life as I will be at home in front of PC when I need to call.....
Also if this is genuine problem with Atrix it will be fixed by motorola in next release....
3) Camera could be better but again its good for phone

IP4 doesnt have 4G and you never know Apple can ask/beg money for future updates

I would definitely recommend it. I haven't had any major issues. I have actually been getting much better reception with this phone than any other I've used. The GPS is amazing(just tried it on a trip last week). My entire family is wanting one as well after seeing mine. The only issue I've had thus far is when I took a trip last week the GPS lost signal three different times. It was easily corrected by turning it on and off with power control. I'm guess with a software update I would be 100% pleased with it.

I would recommend the Atrix to the right people. By that, I mean those that are as geeky as me that can appreciate what the Atrix has and does.

I would not recommend the Atrix to the normal phone crowd as it may disappoint them based on various things such as screen colors and perceived camera quality.

I came directly from the Samsung Captivate. So, I'm very familiar with SAMOLED displays. Yes, they look nice and are very vibrant if not tinged blue. The problem with that is they are OVER saturated and unnatural. The Atrix seems washed out by comparison. It's an unfair statement because the SAMOLED screen is not a natural reference.

The Atrix does have some issues with creating proper yellow and green. I can't think of another way to say that. They just don't look proper.

I struggled with the camera as well. On first pass, it doesn't seem very good. The problem with a term like "good" is it's subjective. When I stepped back and did an objective analysis, I found that the camera is actually very sharp and detailed. It's not over saturated in color presentation so that makes many people think it's bad. By comparison, the HTC Inspire might look "better" on the surface but that's only because it's over saturating the color. In my scrutinizing analysis, the Inspire was much less detailed and the colors were over saturated and unrealistic. The iPhone 4 camera is just as sharp as the Atrix and a bit more saturated. So, it does produce pics that are more pleasing to view and equally sharp and detailed.

So, for anyone expecting vibrant, but, unnatural colors, this is not the phone for them. For anyone wanting realistic yellow and green, this is not the phone for them. If you appreciate sharp details and a high crontrast screen, the Atrix might be the phone for you.

If you want HDMI out, a Front Facing Camera, or the hope that the Tegra 2 SoC will support higher quality gaming, you'll need the Atrix.

Well Said.

I had buyers remorse for a day or so when I switched from the Iphone 4 to the Atrix simply because of the screen and camera. A week or two later the Atrix has truly grown on me and the potential of this thing has blown me away. Now, Im not saying that I wont get the Iphone 5 but untill that purchase Im VERY happy with my Atrix..

As a former bb owner i love my atrix. The android os has tons of stuff to tweak so the phone feels very much like it is your own experience. The only thing ive been less than thrilled about is the battery life. Admittedly, i am a heavy user but it seems like my bold 9000 handled my workload much better. That being said, i love the atrix and would never go back to bb.

Jp77: I also had the bold, and battery life depended on what apps I had running. Right before I switched to the IP4, I was getting great battery life from my 9700. Keep in mind, though, that the screen size (and therefore backlight) is less than half the size...

A note to those comparing the IP4. It's not wise to only compare to a stock atrix. Android gives you so much freedom to customize your phone to work best for you. A case in point for me was the keyboard. 6mos with the iOS keyboard and I hadn't gotten used to the predictive text and it was a constant annoyance. While the stock android keyboard was a bit better, I downloaded swiftkey pro on recommendation of a friend and became accustomed to its predictive text in about 5mins.
