Saw that yesterday when I saw the commercial on CBS multiple times. Hopefully, that means the release date will be the 17th.

It also means that HTC knew the date would be March 17th, and that also means the rumor of HTC getting ticked at Verizon for delaying (what really?) is false since technically Verizon never went public with a date in the first place.

It would have not been known on YouTube thanks to those crappy quality captures you can't see the date there.

The reason there isn't a date at the end of the htc ads is because they are ads they are being played as if the phone is already available, which really it ahoukd have been already.

Not necessarily, if you recall, the dummy phone had the original street date of February 14th on its calendar

Why is it that everyone is a pessimist on these forums

HOW the heck did that duplicate

anyway, I think its HTC's way of hinting at a date :)

one of the CBS ads on the cbs sports website had a date on its calendar too but the day was hidden in a shadow, however it was a Wednesday as well

here's that same graphic that i used to make a sig used on XDA, you can see it a little more clearly, but the day is shadowed

may be the date means it would be out before that date. May be the 10th.

There we go, way to think with the glass half full.

I'm tired of the pessimistic people making the other people feel the same way about all this... we can only hope that HTC and Verizon had this ad blitz planned from the beginning ever since the missed Feb 14th date

I'm over and done with being optimistic pessimistic logistic or any other istic over this phone. when verizon gives an official release date I'll purchase the phone and that will be that. no sense in getting hyped up or pissed off with all these rumored release dates

funny thing is the onscreen ad a few posts up says Wednesday March and then you can't read the number date

Im gonna show up at exactly 10:08 on march 16th and demand my TB ;)

lol

10:08 is what HTC uses on all its press shots for its devices, if you see another number its a render issued by the carrier (10:45 was Verizon's)

anywho, its still quite possible the 10th date could be made, thats if they announce it on Tuesday, which were all hoping for i'm sure

Thats my sig, it was made using the CBS Sports ad graphic when they had the whole webpage ad, it wasn't a flash ad either but it was an ad that teased the phone then it even had the date on the calendar blacked out because of a shadow

wow. I'm used to being on forums where they just have ads littering all up and down the posts. I feel like a genius right now lol

NCX, I think the reason everyone's pessimistic is because of how this release has played out. If nothing would've been said after Verizon announced by end of Q1 at CES, everything would've been fine. If we had just the 14th date and it got pushed back, people would've been a lil disappointed but okay with it. But with the rumored release dates of 14th, 17th, 21st, 24th, 28th, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 10th, & every Monday & Thursday after that in March and even rumors of early April, people are getting negative.

Then there is bad battery issue within weeks of launch, possibility of added features that may turn out to be nothing, and people with friends/ sources coming out of the woodwork, it has turned into a CF. With Verizon only saying you can't delay what hasn't been announced is like waving a red cape in front of a bull. The date on the dummy units pretty much confirms they were looking to release on Feb. 14th. How many times have you seen a date on one of those dummy phones that was a month before the release date?

I have even given a thought to actually riding out the entire 20 months with my Inc. because of this mess. While this rollercoaster has built hype, when it goes bad it gives people time to question if they really should jump on this phone. In this economy that's a bad thing for Verizon.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I can see why people are pessimistic. If the rumored dates would've been kept to around 2 or 3, I think we would've been fine. But with every tech blog getting any little tidbit and running with it, and everyone trying to be an internet hero it's gotten to the point where people don't want to get there hopes up and be let down again.

Edit: About the only thing that has kept me on the Tbolt is the WorldOfJohnboy thread over at DF. Having someone actually have one in hand and answer questions, comment on performance/battery life, etc. is nice.

...I think we pay a premium for being early adopters of new technology. The LTE antenna is where the costs make the ThunderBolt more expensive than the Inspire 4G and other phones

Yes and no. We are certainly paying a premium for the 1st LTE phone on a major carrier. However, there is no difference in antenna costs. Verizon is using a similar frequency band for 3G and 4G 700-800 Mhz which will mean the antennas will be very similar, perhaps an evolutionary step but certainly not a revolutionary one. Furthermore even if the antenna was considerd revolutionary it will still be a very small fraction of the cost of the phone. The SoC, screen and memory make up the largest majority of the cost.

I have been traveling out there for work a lot lately and it gets down into the 30s at night.

Back on topic...does anyone think we will hear an announcement today of any kind?

If we do, I would wager that it's in the next hour. They tend to put those out in the morning, and they've had all weekend to wring their hands over it.
