This phone should not exist. Give us the S2

Fascinate 2 and Stealth are just names. They are both completely new phones. So between the two I'll take the one with the dual core processor that is 8mm thick.

How do you even know there will be 2? I mean samsung has nice phones just sucks with updates which is a reason I will stay away until they show they changed their ways. I had the fascinate and to this day still has no froyo and had many issues out of the gate that took months for them to push an update to try and fix.

The S2 is an HSPA+ phone.

This is going to be Verizon's LTE version, and since it's being released after, or around the S2, it has to be comparable. I'm sure it will be dual core, 1gb RAM, SAMOLED+, 1080p HDMI out etc.. All the specs leaked are almost identical to the S2, and currently it's what I'm waiting for.

Would I rather have a CDMA LTE version of the S2? yes. But we're going to get something very similar.

What sense would it make for Samsung to put out the S2 for AT&T or TMo and put out an inferior phone on the largest, fastest network, AFTER the S2? It'll be a beast of a phone, and the most recent pics look a lot sleeker than the CES version that at the time didn't have a name, was very, very unpolished by all who reviewed it and didn't have much info at all confirmed. All I take from the CES prototype, is that Samsung will be releasing a phone on the LTE network.

I do also remember a tweet by BMX saying something to the effect of 'All hail king Sammy'..

Just some things to kick around.

So the build that they showed at CES isn't what the Stealth will be? If so that's good as that phone looked like a brick size wise. Quite thick from the video I saw.

I'm intrigued by the phone hopefully it will be dual core and have all the goodies we want.

Oh I'm sure it'll be thick. Looks like every LTE is going to be thick.. probably to fit the radio. And the Exynos dual core seems to be the consensus.

I hope this thing comes out soon though!

With all the hype the Thunderbolt and Bionic are getting, I think this has become the forgotten LTE device, but with the reported specs could very well be the best LTE device.

That's really interesting development. If it's true, it's really Verizon version of SGS2 other than very slick form factor of HSPA+ S2. Do you have any sources saying those specs for Stealth?

Can you post any sleeker pics of the phone.

Samsung Stealth V pays a visit to the FCC, is the phone known as Samsung 4G LTE smartphone - Phone Arena

A few links, I think another one or two, were posted in the other thread in this sub-forum.

I'll sleep a little better when Verizon or Samsung come out and officially release the specs for the phone, but again, with the S2 being an HSPA+ phone, and all the of the LTE handsets being in the thicker .5in range, most likely to fit the LTE radio. It seems pretty likely that this was built for Verizon by Samsung, knowing that they wouldn't be releasing be the S2 for Verizon.

Nothing confirmed, just seems like common sense to me I suppose..

I mean at CES, this phone didn't even have a name or network connection. They had to put some sort of hardware in it.

I'm just speculating, but why would Samsung release the S2, and come out with something inferior for Verizon, almost as an afterthought? I really think the S2 chassis is too thin to fit everything needed for an LTE device, and so they made Verizon their own version. Samsung hardware is always impressive. Releasing an outdated phone on the largest, most advanced network just doesn't follow their track record.

How is LG fitting LTE into the revolution? Which is also single core for no reason. The conspiracy theorist in me says Verizon made a deal with Motorola to be the exclusive dual core phone until some period after the Bionics launch...maybe to promote the Droid brand .

The Revolution is also .5in thick..

Revolution= 5.6oz, 4.8" x 2.6" x .5"

Bionic= 5.6oz, 5" x 2.6" x .5"

I was looking hard at the Revolution too since it was supposed to come with the Tegra 2.. I really hope Samsung comes through and knocks one out the park. Or Moto unlocks the bootloader. I'd be happy either way.

Its single core too.

I can understand what you speculate. But still there is no official confirmation of it. If it's true, it will surprise many folks just waiting for Bionic (like the name Stealth means).

As for the thickness of LTE phone, I also think LTE radio requires some thickness than GSM/HSPA+ phones. Thunderbolt, Bionic, Revolution all look somewhat bulkier than HSPA phones.

I'm curious too about the more recent pics you're referencing. The link you provided above is from CES (note the Las Vegas in the location) so that's no different than it looked at the beginning of the year.

Maybe they'll show off something more final at CTIA in a couple weeks.

I was told today "6 weeks," by someone inside who would know. Considering it as my next phone to replace Moto Droid. I played with one at CES. Gorgeous screen.

Was the display much more crisp with the SA+? I read about a month after CES that the "plus", aside from improved clarity and brightness, gets rid of the Pentile matrix in favor of a true subpixel arrangement. When I found out Motorola went Pentile matrix for their qHD displays in the Atrix and Bionic, that really soured me on their higher resolution. It explains the lukewarm reviews of the higher resolution display. If the dual core rumor is true with the Stealth, that along with the SA+ makes this phone the clear winner over the Bionic as the best LTE phone coming, IMO. I'm annual upgrade eligible at the end of April so the timing may be just right!
