This is my first post but I have been checking this site daily on TB news. I have had sprint for years and two months ago my contract on my HTC Hero was up. Since Big Red bought Alltel out in here in central KS, Big Red has unmatched coverage. So I am naturally switching and have been waiting for VW to drop the TB. I have been without a phone for nearly two months since I sold my Hero, and I am getting sick of the wait.

I have been waiting for the TB because it is the latest, greatest device for VW. The problem is that LTE will not be in my area for another year. So I have been thinking about picking up either the DX or DINC. I will get either for a 1 year contract and wait for LTE. I know there is a possibility of being "grandfathered" into LTE but that is not confirmed. I am also a bit hesitent to pay the asking price for the TB(some reports of $299, plus $70 for one year contract, plus tiered data???).

I can pick up a DINC for $169 and a DX for $219 new on 1 year contract. I like the size of the DX as it is larger than my Hero which I thought was too small, but I am worried about BLUR as I have been using Sense . I am needing some friendly advice on if you were in my situation, which one would you get?

I am mostly interested in the following:
1. Good camera-Hero sucked!!
2. Good web browsing experience
3. Good Battery-Hero sucked(HTC??)
4. Overall fast performance of the phone(does BLUR slow it down much?)
5. A good phone that actually makes calls without lagging while dialing.

I am not interested in rooting my phone so I do not want that to be a talking point, I am more interested in just stock phone user recomendations.

If you can't wait, I'd jump on the Droid X. I would try to wait though. Even though they don't have LTE in your area yet, it would be nice to be grandfathered into an 30 unlimited LTE plan. They've said that they're going to tiered pricing this summer.

Spint is not an option anymore. The coverage has really gone down hill and data speeds are actually getting slower where I live.

The main reason for the post was that I am tired of waiting for the TB and the price is a little to high for what you are going to get. The specs are very similar to both phones and without LTE for at least a year, I think I can do without my "dream phone". Besides I will do a 1 year contract and get the TB2:)

The whole idea of being grandfathered in has never been confirmed by VW. My local VW corporate store manager has told me that VW will word it so that 4G data will be rated different than 3G and thus not unlimited. Now who knows if the VW manager knows what he is talking about.

in that case i would hold off.. the thunderbolt will be a great phone since the evo is, however bigger and better phones are on the horizon, look at the atrix for example, and since VW seems to always get the best phones its only a matter of time before they get some crazy android 2.3 or higher with a dual core processor, so I would hold off until the summer if I were you

I appreciate the responses so far, but let me just come out and say it-I am getting a phone now and not getting the Blunderbolt. I am not waiting for the Blunderbolt, Bionic, LG or any other one. I understand that greater things are on the horizon, but that is always the case. Why should I go til late Q2 to get a phone when I could get one right now with a one year contract and next year after MWC, see what dual core/quad core phones are out there. With the way VW has been pushing off release dates it will be the last day of June before Bionic launches and they will still smile saying that they hit their release date. So as I mentioned before, anybody who owns either the DINC or the DX, which one should I get and why?

What you need to do is go to a Verizon store and be honest and tell them you want to sign up but you want a T-Bolt but you also need something now that won't tie you into a two year contract.

I would bet if it is anything like the store near me they can manage to come up with a loaner phone that you could use until the phone you want comes out.

Or

just find someone with an unused VZW phone and borrow it for a short while.
