Root [ROM][ACS] Koni's ELITE Series III - (ES3 - 03/24/11) - The evolution of ELITE!!!

Heres an actual pertinent quandry, whats the deal with different kernels? Is the stock one not as stable as the netarchy?

I believe the stock #15 kernel is stable across the board, and not all Netarchy kernels work on all phones. I think thats the reason *most* not all roms come loaded with the stock kernel.
For example, some can handle HAVS, some can handle HAVS more, some can't handle HAVS at all. Just depends on what your hardware can handle.

I gotta give you a thumbs up Koni. This is a non-flashy ROM with awesome features which is exactly what I was looking for. I really liked King's but figured I'd give yours a try as well. Think I'm sticking with this for awhile.

True. I had kings for a while too but it didn't work as good as I would've liked with my SBC kernel. This one is smoother and I love that everything is white on black.

Which by the way when gmail and market updated it went back to black on white. Can you update?

I Just got my new EVO 4g Sprint, this weekend. I have already rooted with unrevoked and installed root explorer. I have been researching all the rom's and I am going with yours. EXACTLY! what ive been looking for.. and the "ELITE" status of it, takes the cake. Being a noob I do have a few questions, if you have the time to answer the.

- Will I lose my data (contacts, pics, videos, downloaded apps, etc) when I switch to your rom? It will be the first time I do a flash, Up to this point I have only rooted, done a nandroid back up and deleted some sprint stuff.

- Im guessing all the Sprint apps have already been deleted or will I still be able to go in and delete some that I havent gotten to yet with the root explorer?

- Will i need an additional battery optimizing kernel? I think is the right word or is there no need for one with ELITE.

I apologize if im getting my terms mixed up, but Id rather ask than brick my phone. Thank you so much, i hope to hear from you. and loving android.

Welcome to Android Forums!!

1. Everything on your SDcard will be safe. That doesnt get touched unless you intentionally wipe it. Your apps, settings, contacts, etc. on your phone, all must be wiped though. Refer to the Rooting for Dummies guide for instructions on how to flash the rom.
Contacts will come back when you sign back into gmail. If you have some stored on your phone though, you will lose them. While in your contacts list, press menu, then "View". It will give you a list, for example:
Google (420)
Phone (47)
Facebook (275)

If you have a number by phone, youll want to back those up. Again, while in your contacts list, press menu, and then "Import/Export". Then, export to your sd card your phone contacts, not your gmail contacts, or you will have them listed twice. It will save them as a file to your SDcard. Repeat this step, except import them, after you flash the rom to get your phone contacts back.

2. All of the Sprint bloatware has been removed (if i remember correctly all of it has). If there is anything you want back, you can get an apk and reinstall it, or download titanium backup free in the market and use it to uninstall any other apps you dont want. A list of apps ok to remove is floating around here somewhere.

3. The stock HTC kernel comes with the rom. It worked quite well for me. I recommend leaving it for a couple days, and seeing how well it works for you. If you want to try something to see if you can get a little more battery out of it, a netarchy kernel would probably help. When you are ready to get one, we can help you choose one that will work. Sometimes kernels can be trial and error, so thats why you want to get a baseline down of what the stock kernel will do for you, then try out some others and make sure they play well with your phone.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Just follow the Rooting for Dummies guide closely and it will all work perfect. If you follow that, you wont even come close to bricking your phone. So you dont even need to worry about that :)

It is in my sights :)

First though...I will be releasing the beta version of ELITE Series III in about a week :)
Wow, in just another week? Pretty quick timeframe from Elite II to Elite III.

This ROM looks pretty similar to Kings. Has anyone tried both Kings R2 and Elite II? How do they stack up? I really like Kings, but I can't help but feed my urge to flash a new ROM every 3 days or so.

I to have been addicted to flashing lately. I tried both. Still have King's R2 on a nandroid to flip to when I want to show off because I like the theme I flashed. But I've been using Koni's as a daily driver for the last week. So far, Koni's work has been flawless and I really enjoy it. I'd suggest trying it, probably my favorite ROM I've tried as of late.

Just adb remove the HtcLockScreen.apk and you will have an ELITE themed vanilla lock screen :)

while that worked perfectly to get the new lockscreen, I must say(and please take no offense Koni) its not as smooth as the rest of the roms features. ES2 is simply awesome, by far the best ive tried and and ive tried 9 roms now!! anywho, im restoring my nandroid b/u from earlier today to get the original lockscreen back :(

Youre not alone in your addiction to trying new roms, im right there wit-cha brutha! But, ever since I installed ES2, i keep reverting back to it after giving the other guys a test drive.... i cant wait for ES3!!!! Anyone got any good leads on where i can get a step by step process for custom boot animations? ive searched the forum, with no luck. Ive found several boot animation zip files, but i just dont know what i need to do with them:( any help would be very appreciated!!

Just flashed this rom and Rocky likee! :) I love the icons and the themed Launcher Pro. Thanks Koni for adding the themed LP btw. ;) I wish more devs would theme LP for their roms.

This is snappy and very responsive, I'm not sure why folks say it's like Kings, I think they are both stand alone roms, and both awesome in their own way. :D

Koni you should try to brew up a kings theme for your rom. I know there is a Koni theme for Kings, It'd be nice to have the best of both worlds on both roms!

im not sure i understand how to install the options... whats an adb?

Do I put the zip files on the sd card and install them from clockwork recovery? Do I unzip them and instal them in some way with an app?

I just installed from recovery... i think theyre flashable. Do a nandroid b/u and whats the worst that could happen if ya try it when ya have a good restore point? anywho, ADB is a communication method utilizing a terminal (as is found in other Linux systems) to make changes to an existing OS. So if you want to change your boot animation or uhhhh, im not sure what else youd use the ADB for really, but i digress.... here ya go, watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wi1UagsL5g
