I bought this 1600 mAh battery on eBay with a battery slot charger for $25 shipped from Cali. Very noticeable boost in battery life. Charged it for 4 hours before putting it in the phone as instructed. The rest is as follows:

Off the charger with 100% (Thursday 3pm)
Current time of this post with 54% (Friday 3am)

(Since I got the new battery)----I turn off GPS and auto sync (I set everything to update when the specific app is open). When at home I have wifi on most of the time, when I'm on the go, I have wifi off and network data on till I get back home. Made few phone calls, dozens of texts, about 20 minutes of browsing, and few minutes of music. And couple downloads on the market. At this rate, it looks like it won't be back on the charger till maybe tomorrow night. So almost 3 full days of battery life before hitting >10% ain't bad at all.

Your results appear to imply that the phone lasts three times longer, which is impossible. At best, we'll see 1600/1230 = 30% longer life - that's it. Sigh... we need a more objective test plan than I-changed-a-bunch-of-settings-and-swapped-the-battery-and-now-it-lasts-way-longer... I'm going to guess that real battery-life tests to show no better than 20% tops - about 5 hrs more life, assuming the capacity claims are true, and that's a big assumption.

Huh?

You went through 50% of the battery in 12 hours with a couple calls and texts and you think you'll last 24 more hours?

You never did post the link to where u got it... nothing listed as 1600 mah in the US on ebay.

First, I posted this elsewhere but I wanted to put it in this thread, also.
Mods, sorry if I've caused a prob with a double post.
OK-Here's my experience with one of those "Chinese" eBay batteries.
Even though I felt my battery life was OK, I wanted to improve it. So, I got one of those 1500mah $24.87 charger/battery combos.
Everything looked fine and I charged it up per instructions. And the phone fired up without probs.
BUT...installation bothered me. The battery length and width were the same, but the thickness was larger. It was a VERY tight fit, way beyond snug, and required some effort to get it to seat properly.
To say the least, that bothered me quite a bit. Then I thought that if that thing got hot and swelled up, Heaven forbid melted, I'd never get it out and goodby phone.
So I decided to take it out.
Now, to get a stock battery out, the instructions say to shake it and then grab an edge and remove (which worked no sweat taking the original out).
But with this thing, there was no way that shaking it was going to make it budge.
I had to CAREFULLY use the point of a pocket knife to get it started and had to use the point until it was at least 75% out before I could get it out with my fingers.
Scaed to death I was gonna mess up the case, but I took my time and finally got it out.
SO..as you can guess, my recommendation is DON'T get one of these. DON'T take a chance. BEWARE!!.
The original battery is back in and if I get a different one, I'm gonna go through Seido.

Yes, there is, I just got mine from this US Seller (Brooklyn, NY) yesterday-

1600mAh Standard Replacement battery for HTC Desire HD - eBay (item 270665597794 end time Mar-17-11 13:14:29 PDT)

It fits perfectly, and has the same dimensions and thickness as the stock HTC Battery. I can't yet report on it's performance as I have only had it for a day, but even if it only does a little better I'm not out a lot, $4.95, and I have a spare battery regardless.

I got two of these today. Arrived from china. HOWEVER, I took my Inspire back last week . . . .

they DO say 1600mAh.

I bought a kit with 2 batteries, charger, screen protectors, gel sleeve, etc.

ANYONE WANT TO BUY THE BATTERIES ? ? ? and the charger??? I have no use for them at this point.

PM me if you're interested in the batteries.

I have an Optimus now.

I just one from China. It works fine so far. Just wish I knew how to verify if it is actually a 1600. Don't know if it will last longer yet. First day with it in.

In another thread I saw that you can use a terminal emulator app or ADB shell (root is not required), enter the command:
Code:
cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/batt_attr_text

Doesn't work, I've run it on 3 batteries and every time it reports back 1230mah exactly, so something is programmed into the OS to deliver that result every time.

Tries 2 of the 1600 and 1500 mAh batteries, 1 of the Seideo 1300 mAh, and the stock battery and got the same on each, so clearly not accurate.

What makes you convinced that its the command that's "lying" and not the label on the battery?
