Root Serendipity 6.0 is IN THE HOUSE

I have kind of a beginner or "noob" question. I understand what a rom is, I kind of understand what a kernel is, but what is a modem and isn't that basically the only thing changed in serendipity 6 versus 5.12? I'm just asking because supposedly some of the add ons for serendipity aren't working correctly so I might wait until things start to get a bit more compatible. Could someone explain what all three are so I can decide if it is worth flashing version 6 and holding out on the add ons for a bit, or if I should stay on 5.12 for now.

I'm waiting a day or so till everyone gets a chance to test it out. I like how stable 5.12 is and I can wait a little bit more.

The modem is in charge of getting you a single from AT&T so that is very important. I don't know the difference between all of them. As far as addons go just check on the xda page and see whats up. I briefly checked in over there and I think they said they uploaded a new kitchen with addons.

Been looking forward to this with all the talk about it. But like I say. I'll leave the preliminary testing to the first people. Just in case any changes need to be made. 5.12 is awesome.

I've gotten the same force closes, plus have gotten it in the browser on other pages.

Also, has anyone else had the issue with Swype's licensing expiring? Mine started giving me an error this morning and I tried to follow the instructions of uninstalling, and then installing swype installer, but can't uninstall swype. It is greyed out.

There is a minor update this morning for Serendipity - 6.0 to 6.1. It fixes an issue with the Swype keyboard. I don't use Swype.

I don't have any other issues EXCEPT https:// websites cause a force close of the browser.

It is a known fact and openly talked about this morning on the xda website, and he (MikeyMike) knows what's wrong and he'll have a fix later today.

I thought I also read that the FC's were only happening on links ending with the "s" (https vice http).

I'm on 6.1 right now, but haven't tried it yet. I used Dolphin HD browser.....let me check if it works.

Also, yes, the add-on kitchen works just fine. I've already flashed some add ons onto 6.1 with zero problems.

I did notice, though, that being back on Speedmod's k13c kernel as brought back the annoying "Time without signal" issue. I was able to get rid of that while on 5.12 by using Paragon's kernel.....wonder if Paragon's kernel will work with 6.1???

I'm pretty sure Paragon is fine. Seen a lot of people using it so far.

I'm running Paragon with Serendipity 6.1, and it runs fine. I'm O/C to 1200.

The browser force close is only happening with HTTPS sites. It will be fixed today.

The swype issue might be more than just a Serendipity 6.0 thing though. I'm still on 5.11 (haven't had the opportunity to upgrade it yet, busy, busy, busy) and I had the issue with the swype expiration this morning. A bit frustrated because I love my swype and I'm a bit lost without it. Might have to flash Cognition 4.0 if this persists.
