My permissions are like that :/

EDIT:

Ok it may be an issue with the file permissions, or you may have to replace 2 files,
sensors.swift.so and sensors.goldfish.so although it doesn't always fix the problem, it improves it.

are there any news on a newer kernel with better 3D support?, i kinda read something in the 4pda site but it's in russian :(

also, i would like to help you with your blog, any chance i can?

On 4pda.ru in the 'Plans for next version' he says he will try to overclock the 3D kernel.. We could see that in the next version :D

Sure! I'd be glad to have help! How would you help me? :)

oh that's good to know, 3D performance is good but can be better, seeing that games like GT racing and HAWX run nice...theres room for improvements

i was thinking in stuff like how to make some games run, fixes for common problems, news on roms that support the GT540, tweaks, customization, etc.
what do you think?

Yeah, I don't play much 3D games tbh, only when I'm bored xD But this'll be really nice for people who like to play 3D games on the GT540 :D

Yeah, that's a really good idea! I've added a submit page to the blog, you can create your posts there and then it'll add it to the queue where I then have to allow the post to be posted onto the blog. It's the closest I could find to allowing you to post on the blog :p So if you find anything let me know and I'll post it or you can do it if you want! :D

Apologies if this is answered elsewhere but is it possible to upgrade directly from 1.6, or is upgrading to 2.1 first (then to 2.3) required/recommended?

Also, this will potentially sound rather silly but what is meant by "No calibration of the screen"? I take it that there is currently just no way to calibrate the screen?

Officially you can't update to 2.3 just up to 2.1, unofficially, you can, that is...using a custom ROM, you can update straight from 1.6.

that's right, in 1.6, you'll notice there's an option in settings to calibrate the screen, in the custom ROMs provided here, there's no such option.

Unfortunately I can't even upgrade (officially) to 2.1 currently due to having an unlocked GT540. I have the LG support chat transcripts about somewhere but due to having to wait for the network operators to approve the update - at the time of asking, O2 UK and unlocked phones could not receive the update yet. Admittedly this was about four weeks ago so perhaps this has now changed since.

Is there a specific technical reason that calibration is not available in any of the custom ROMs ? It seems oddly specific :S Not a complaint, just curious. At least until it turns out I need it ;).

Excerpt from the chat transcript. Aside: I never did get past this 30% point described below and I was too lazy to contact anybody else :p
10:52 AM kwah: Cheers. Also, is the update from 1.6 to 2.1 definitely available in the UK? A few weeks ago I attempted it but the upgrade kept stalling at an odd point (I'll grab the error message in a moment).
10:52 AM
Mobile Phone Support: The update is available, however there are certain customers who cannot perform the upgrade.
10:53 AM
kwah: which customers?
10:54 AM Mobile Phone Support: O2 PAYT customers, and open network customers
10:55 AM
kwah: When will support for these customers be available / what is preventing support currently?
10:56 AM Mobile Phone Support: The network providers have to verify the release for their customers.
10:57 AM kwah: (PS, my previous attempts would stall at the "Checking the connections with the cell phone... (30%)" stage, despite already being connected and the phone being recognised and the update process starting etc..)
11:01 AM kwah: So open network customers will be able to upgrade once O2 has authorised the update? I wish to upgrade an open network phone with a non-O2 sim card - you are saying that the update will continue to fail for me?
11:03 AM Mobile Phone Support: It would appear so. I would recommend you speak to your network provider to see if they can arrange it for you, or alternatively please contact our dedicated mobile agents directly on 0844 847 5454.

hmm, same thing happens where i live (Mexico) even when the 2.1 update was released months ago the network operator won't update the phones.

as for the calibration, well... i don't really know..hehe as far as i know it has something to do with the linux kernel, so my best guess is that's something really difficult or time consuming to change, so the developer of this ROM most likely won't work on that, as there are other bugs to fix.
