Bought my Inspire at Costco on my way home from work today for $19.99. This was the upgrade price. Apparently you can get it for one cent if you're a new subscriber. Additionaly you only have to pay taxes on the regular Costco price of $99.99. I got out of there for a total of $28.74 and AT&T is going to add an $18 upgrade fee to my account.

Also, Costco includes a free wireless accessories bonus pack that includes a generic leather case (lame), wired ear buds with mic (useful), and a car charger (very useful).

This is the best deal I've seen anywhere so jump on it while you can. I don't know how long this sale is going on, but today was the first day of the sale. You can also get the deal at Costco.com.

So far I love this phone since I'm coming from a Motorola Q9h which was constantly freezing and crashing.

That is a screaming deal. I have a buddy who manages an ATT store. After some searching other stores, he found an inspire for me, and just activated it.. I am picking it up later tonight. The only sucky part is that my current phone quit working when he upgraded me to the inspire (which I fully expected.) I probably won't have the phone in my hands until 8-9pm tonight, but Im already itching to start playing!!! Congrats on the killer deal! I love costco!

If you have the unlimited data plan, I am not sure how you will order online and keep it. Since you are only given 2 choices online - the $15 and the $25 data plans.

if you order online, how do you keep your original data plan? its making me choose a new one otherwise i cannot checkout. i have tried adding a new data plan, then seeing if you can delete it from the cart, but you cannot.

Got Best Buy to price match the costco price of 20.00. Since I bought my Inspire when Best Buy was running there special for free entry into their buy back program I will make out really good when I need to purchase another phone. Was told today that the buy back program is off the retail price of the phone not the 2yr contract price I paid. Going to make out like a bandit at the end of my contract with this phone.

Don't get too excited. Even after 1 year, the trade-in value of the Inspire won't be very much. Go over to their site, and key in an older AT&T phone or a Moto Droid. you might be shocked of the low value.

And just think, after two years, you might be lucky to get $25 off a used phone at trade-in!

Just like a used car....resale value drops the day you take ownership!

If u go to best buys website you could read all about the program. The amount u get back is based on the purchase price not the trade in value. Please read before u post wrong information. And it does say cell phones are based off retail price not contract price. As long as I get another phone in the next 24 months the worst I will get back is 120.

I'm fine with not rooting it for now. I'm loving everything about it so far. I probably won't end up rooting it until there's something that really makes me want to do it. By that time maybe there'll be an easier/quicker method to root. :)

Very Smart :)

I've rooted several models of Androids. While it has certain advantages on versions 2.1 and earlier, there's far less reason (if any) to root an Inspire.

I'm enjoying optimizing mine without rooting.

Not in California, here you pay tax on the full retail value of the phone, not the sale price. There are other states and cities with this as well. The only way around is the buy a phone online from a company that has no physical presence in the state, ie.Amazon, otherwise you'll pay the tax.

I live in California, and I only had to pay approximately $9 in sales tax. That leads me to believe I only paid tax on the $99 price and not on the full retail price of $400. I bought it at the Costco in Yorba Linda, CA which is in Orange County. I was surprised by this as well. Hopefully the government doesn't come after me for the difference.

You can do what ever your heart desires. Just don't wanna hear you cryin' in the forums when you don't get what you expected off your trade-in.

Poneeboy53, Since you so unnecessarily corrected me in another post stating I didn't understand how the BestBuy program worked, i'll recap it.

First to participate in the program (if in fact, you bought an INSPIRE), you would have to FIRST fork over $59.99 to BestBuy. This is the "participation fee". Its NOT FREE. I think that's what alot of people think.

Ok, Retail price of the INSPIRE is $599. Trade-in value IS based off retail price of the phone.

So, lets say that at the end of your INSPIRE contract (2 years for example), you would get 20% of the Full retail price.
In this case scenerio, you would get $119.80, that you could apply toward a new phone.

Lets say after 6 months, you wish to upgrade. You'd get 50% back off your inspire at full retail value of $599 which would be a $300 credit.
(NOTE! If you traded for another phone, the $300 would be APPLIED TO THE FULL RETAIL PRICE OF THE PHONE!!!!!!), so if you traded for a XXXXX model (newer model 6 months newer), and the retail price of the phone was $599.00 as well, THEN . . . you'd have needed to pay another $300 for the phone AT FULL RETAIL (plus the $59 you invested in the upgrade program). You would NOT be allowed to buy the phone at an upgrade price since you were in a 2 year contract). At the end of your 2 year contract, however, you could take the 119.80 you'd get for the phone at 20% of orig RETAIL value, and then you could apply it to a NEW phone at at UPGRADE price (taking into consideration you were eligible for an upgrade). Obviously, the higher the RETAIL price of the phone you have, the more you'll get back. But you still have to figure the $59.99 you spent originally to participate in the program (the upgrade program is NOT FREE).

So, honestly, anyone expecting to snag a new phone before your contract is up for nothing will be badly disappointed (after contract is up might be a little different).

So, Poneeboy53, you wish to correct me on any other discrepancies???????

Here is partial reprint from the buyback program.

For mobile phones, the Buy Back provides exceptional value when you want to get the latest and greatest. The Buy Back Program for post paid mobile phones is based on the full retail price of the phone, not the discounted price of the phone. Your phone is typically discounted in price when you renew or sign up for a new contract. If the retail (non-contract) price is $600, your buy back value would be based on that amount, even if you purchased the phone for a lower price if the phone price was subsidized by the carrier.

For example: you pay $199 for a mobile phone which normally retails for $600 and also purchase the Buy Back Program. If you decide to redeem your buy back within 6-12 months of purchase, you will receive a Best Buy Gift Card in the amount of $240 (40% of the original retail price) to put toward your next purchase at full retail.
