Came across this article which contained a few tidbits in it:

Toshiba wants to price its Honeycomb tablet in range of iPad 2 | AndroidOS.in

First tidbit - Launching in May in Australia. Don't they usually release to the US first? Might this mean an April release for the US? Or will they release worldwide at the same time?

Second tidbit - Pricing around $600. Not sure thats news as I think this was expected. But it will be interesting to see what the final US price is.

What are your thoughts on the new Toshiba tablet? Do you think this is better than the Xoom? Is there a better android tablet either out there or coming soon?

First tidbit: It really depends on the company strategy where they launch first. You will see a lot of products are released outside the US first

Second tidbit: This is the first time I've seen anything on the Toshiba tablet price. I guess this is in Austrailian dollars too. Doesn't matter as they are more or less one-to-one.

This tablet looks promising, what with an SD card slot, HDMI and USB ports, replaceable batteries. Right now, for me it is between this and the Xoom. Price could determine which I go for.

Both are my favorites at the moment. Me too, see what are the prices.

I hope this won't happen, the worst scenario, if one comes out first and the other promised to release a bit later and then delay and delay... :-(

Manufacturers like Toshiba are making a HUGE mistake by waiting any longer at this point. The WiFi only Xoom is going to be out in a few weeks and if no one is saying anything about their tablets then people wont wait.

Stringing people along with release dates is frustrating. However Toshiba have clearly stated this spring. That sets them a deadline of the end of May. If they start to deviate from that then I would start looking elsewhere. I think we should learn more at CTIA on the 22nd.

Technically they have through June 20th to still release in spring.

I agree - release dates have to be made clearer at CTIA, otherwise I have a hard time seeing a spring release if they still don't know by then.

I must admit I HATE all of this bullcrap about not saying the release dates...

I don't understand the logic at all. By now, Toshiba *must* know when they are going to release. What possible advantage could they have by holding back on announcing? All I can see are plusses for them if they do.

Why don't they understand that we the consumer take silence to generally mean - your not close so I'm moving on?

Exactly, originally I was in love with the Motorola Droid Bionic, but if another dual core comes out first I am going to buy it because Motorola is being a total douchenozzle and not releasing any details.

I've been patiently awaiting the arrival of this great looking tablet. I'm hoping I may be able to use it for marine navigation. I haven't seen any mention of a GPS chip. Does anyone have some insight? Thanks!

It definitely has a gps chip. If you go to their tablet home page and go to the 360 view. Rotate to the back side and one of the bubbles mention it.

Thought I saw an image from somewhere that said the 10" Toshiba Honeycomb tablet would be $499 US and will release in June.

Ah! Via HTCSource! HTC Verdi to launch in June with Honeycomb and a 10-inch display?

Yes - that image is out - as well as another image that adds the Samsung 10 inch tab, but takes away the price and changes all June dtaes to "Coming Soon".

On the surface it looks like June for many tablets - which is disappointing. On the other hand, I will hold out some hope that Toshiba and others will wake up that the time is NOW and at least pull those dates in to May at least.

With the Xoom out there (and wifi coming soon) and the fact that its a pretty sweet tablet - that makes it very hard to wait a few more months for a better tablet, but what makes them better is not clear if it is really worth waiting for.
