[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

I haven't decided if I will go with the 2 yr and get my last NE2 or get the 1yr and pay the additional $120. I am leaning towards the 2yr. If I don't want to keep the phone (for reasons I cannot now fathom), I think we can return within 14 days. If I go with 1 yr and return, I may lose that last NE2 altogether. Theoretically, return "should" put me back where I was before the phone but VZW may not do that given they are canceling the NE2s

This will be my 3rd or 4th NE2 (and last unfortunately). Mine have always been $50. Some have been higher for others. I think maybe even as high as $100 depending on the size of your base usage - I think. I've always been on the $40 450 anytime minutes plan so mine have only been $50. I have never heard of $30 but anything is possible with Big Red.

Okay...figured out that I'm right about the $30 NE2...but that's specific to when you signed up for VZW service...so your mileage may vary. I signed up with VZW after 2/15/09.

What do you mean by "extension". I'm not familiar with that.
That was the word choice of the rep I spoke with at WireFly. I don't know if it was by chance, or intentional. He said something to the tune of, "...you're agreeing to extend your contract with Verizon Wireless...."

I suppose that time will tell when I get my phone on Friday, get it set up and the website updates my account. Thanks for the speculation.

Yeah, a contract extension = "new contract". I'd say your NE2 discount is gone. If you aren't eligible for an upgrade, the website isn't going to show you the NE2 discount. I'm guessing the NE2 discount is only honored by VZW...not the affiliates like Wirefly.

But you won't miss that money in a month or two...so don't sweat it too much. :)

I expect that is what will happen. I'll post about it when it changes just so there's a confirmation of sorts.

Just got mine...no 1 year upgrade! That's the bad news...

Good news is that this phone is awesome!

Why didn't you have the option for the 1-year? I did @ 319.99 ... the only catch is that you can't use your NE2 discount if you only do the 1-year. But when I calculated out the 50.00 that I was losing by not getting my NE2 discount vs the extra 80.00/mo X 12 months for the extra year in contract I went with the 1-year anyway.

there are a ton of different situations.

if you are doing an early upgrade you will not have the 1 year contract option i think. its only a 2 year, or month to month

Some people are getting the NE2 discount bringing the phone down to 199 or something. You might or might not be able to get it on a 1 year if you are using your NE2

Some people are getting work discounts and getting various amounts off

new customers have all 3 options available (month to month, 1 year, 2 year)

Bottom line is you are not going to get the same as the guy that posted above and below you and everyone is on a case by case basis. You might have to call #611 to work out a special deal if you want to do something the online site isnt allowing.

I posted this is in the online orders thread, but figured it may be of more use here. For those of you seeing the online upgrade discounts ie. $229 for 1 year contract when you go to upgrade online, it is due to your corporate/employee discount. Of course you can order online, but the good news is that if you want your phone today, you should be able to receive the exact same price in stores! I just picked one up for $229 on a 1 year contract.

Here are some tips as one store I went to I had a terrible experience, and another went more smoothly. When you go in, I would not even mention the price. Just walk in and tell them you want the phone upgrade on 1 year contract and be patient while they ring everything up. It should ring up at the right price automatically assuming you are eligible for this discount. You can always decline or say something when they give you your total price and ask for payment. If you inquire about the price before that, they may look at you like you're crazy and automatically turn you away, tell you to go order it online. Anyhow, below is a recount of my experience if anyone is interested.

The first store I went to, I mentioned I wanted to upgrade with 1 year contract. As he was processing the order, I asked him if he could verify the price, and he said $319. I said I had a corporate discount on my account and when I checked online the price was $229. He did not believe me and said there is no way that is possible. He said he would try and the discount would apply automatically if this is possible. He messed around a little, scanned the box, but finally said that I was wrong and that there was no way that he was going to giving me that price. He told me that even if it shows it online, that the price will go up to $319 at the final checkout page, which is not true.

I decided to go try another store since one user on here reported success. Initially they told me I was crazy when I said the 1 year contract is $229. However they actually processed the upgrade to the payment stage and again told me it would show up if there is a discount. It took them about half an hour, but finally said total with tax was $243. The dude seemed stunned and kept talking about how great of a discount that was for the 1 year contract.

In the end I walked out the door with a new HTC Thunderbolt that I thought was going to be $90 more than I actually ended up paying. Good luck.

I'm seriously showing 1 year for $229 on Verizon's site. Is anyone else seeing this? I am coming off a 2 year contract, but this is only for a one year price.

After seeing this I took my Bolt back to the store and ordered online ... instead of 319.99 I paid 229.99 with only a 1-year contract! Free overnight shipping with promo code freeovernt

THANKS COWBOY!
