Hi All,

I am looking at the current insertcoin roms here

Index of /Desire_HD_Base/InsertCoin

I see that there is a DATA2SD ver. 2.0.0 and a DATA2EXT ver.2.0.1

I am currently rooted and running Leedroid 2.3d with a 1 gig ext3 partition.

Which version would you experienced guys recommend I use, or is the 1.8h version still better?.......I have read and read and I still cannot see which would be best. For instance will any of these give me the '3 second silence' or the 'echo' faults that I have seen mentioned? Also are there any other shortcomings that I should know about?

Finally would you choose an 'insertcoin' rom or should I stick with Leedroid?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but would like to get this right.

Thanks for listening and thanks as always for the great advice on this forum.

Speak to you soon.

bishy.

Hi Lecter,

Thanks for the info and quick reply. Out of interest, what is the difference between DATA2SD and DATA2EXT?

While I have you here listening ;-)........you spoke very highly of insertcoin 1.8h what is better in ver.2.0.0?

Thanks again for all your help and advice.

Speak to you soon.

data2sd and data2ext are essentially the same. They have different names because:

Data2sd came first. It originally only had a 2nd fat32 partition, which then had an EXT file mounting /data in it. Data2ext removed the file. However, the dev of data2sd had already tried this and got better results with the file.

Over time the dev of data2sd got it working very well on ext and did away with the file.

I dont know how much of how data2sd works is now in data2ext, but data2sd's thread has a lot more interest / activity over at xda.

If I was going to go with one, it would be that.

I did infact test data2sd for a long time, however in the end - I preferred a2sd.

+1 for version 2.0.

I was on 1.8h but after a few days it slowed down majorly and I couldn't get Exchange Mail to work at all. So I went to 1.9 when it came out which still lagged at times.

But 2.0 is ridiculously good - it is super quick and everything works as you would want. I am on the simple apps2sd version as I am lazy and couldn't be bothered to make all the separate partitions.

So yeh, 2.0 apps2sd is stupidly fast and I hear data2sd is even quicker! I have had it for nearly a week and it is brilliant.

Hi all again,

Having a few problems, Have downloaded the data2sd v2.0.0.......is this correct as I couldn't find an a2sd version.

Have deleted data, cache & dalvik cache.........installed rom (twice!!!!) and it hangs at the white HTC screen.

Anyone have any ideas please........Have I installed the correct rom, I have one 1Gig ext3 partition on my sd card........I also read somthing about verification turned off in recovery, but could not find this.......could this be a problem?

I had no problems with 1.8h so I am a little perplexed!!!!!!

If there is an A2SD version would you please point me in the right direction.

Once again thanks for all help and I'm sorry to be a pain.

Speak to you soon.

dont use version 2.0.0 it has a bug in the data script that will completely wipe data if your phone runs out of power and switches off..

the latest data2ext 2.0.1 is alot better and smoother and very fast..

been running it since it was released and not had a single problem, no force closes, no data corruption etc etc

to install this one you need a fat32, ext, ext and a linux swap partition.

use mini tool partition wizard to partition your card, there are many reported problems with using gparted if you dont do a complete format.
Best Free Partition Manager Freeware for Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. MiniTool Free Partition Manager Software Home Edition.

anyways, backup anything you want to save on your sd card and move it to your computer.

boot in to recovery and mount your sd card, attatch to computer using your usb.

open mini tool partition wizard and choose the sd card drive, right click and wipe all partitions.

right click and choose create and make a primary fat 32 partition with all the space but leave 1.4gb free for the other partitions.

click create again and make a primary ext3 partition of 1gb

click create again and make a primary ext3 partition of 300mb

click create again and make a linux swap partition of 100mb

thats it done.. move your rom to your sd card, unmount the sd card, then go flah your zip.

the latest data2ext roms are just as fast if not faster than the app2sd roms

i have 2.0.1 and its a little laggy, i was going to try 2.0.0 Lecter can you confirm this data wipe problem?
My phone has never run out of battery and don't see why it should as I don't plan to ever be away from a power source!

I've been running 2.0 since its release and the new kernel since a few days and am getting incredible battery stats, i.e. I had 70% left yesterday with my normal use!!
