Picking up a thunderbolt tomorrow.

Yes. Single. I have to say that for those of us who won't get 4G till probably 2013, getting a Fascinate for $40 (then rooting it and adding Super Clean), is not a bad deal compared to paying premium for the "latest" phone that I won't be able to get 4G on.... so I just got three Fascinates for $90 total. Not bad and it blows away what I was using in terms of speed (with SuperClean that is).
:D

Maybe I'll look at the Thunderbolt in 6 months or so....

So this guy just had 3 lines that were up for 2 year renewals I take it?

I think they get refurbished ones on a new contract

That's exactly it. Sorry, been sick in bed and haven't been able to answer back.

If anyone is concerned about the "preowned" part, I got three of them (and the rep gave me a credit on my bill which is why it was technically $90 for three phones) and ALL three are literally no different than brand new. I mean I CLOSELY inspected these things to find some little blemish or scratch or something, and there just aren't any imperfections on the three units I got.

Maybe these were returns or they just do a good job refurbishing them, I don't know, but if I paid $180 or whatever for new units and then saw these, I would have felt dumb for paying an extra $140 per phone.

You can get the CPO's for $109 by the way on 1 year contract. But since I'm going to be with Verizon anyway, and it seems that I usually keep my phones about 18 months, I went for the 2 year contract and the low price. It's just too nice a phone to pass up for $40. :)

According to testings from early users, 4G LTE speed on Tbolt looks very impressive. I just wonder how long its battery can go. EVO was terrible with WiMax antenna on.

Does anyone know what the 4G data plan is like for LTE phone on Verizon? Tbolt is released now, but their web site is still pretty vague about it.

The 4g plan is 29.99 unlimited. Same as unlimited 3g.

yeah there were some crazy lte speeds reported on the tbolt in the first day...however there are just a few thousand devices using lte atm and as more and more jump on, those speeds wont last

I may order one today.... I'm torn. Hey Nitsuj, don't be a hater dude, give out a fair chance at failing or working out, don't predetermine it as a dud quite yet. Maybe out will be just fine. I'm hoping so.

the thunderbolt is an ok phone fwiw...my real issue is that its way overhyped and its *relatively* old hardware. people are acting like its the greatest phone to ever launch, and lets be honest, its not.

hardware wise (radio aside) its a lateral move from this phone. im not saying that out of a jealousy thing, i have an upgrade right now I could use on it and if I sold my fascinate it wouldnt cost a lot on a 1 year at all.

but why would i? the fascinate will more than keep me until july or so when hopefully something *really* groundbreaking would launch...either way verizon has a year to get its head out of its ass with releases or i will jump ship

I saw some reports that Tbolt doesn't have easy toggle switch for 4G LTE radio. Seems like odd omission if it's true. So if it goes out of LTE covered area, does it automatically goes into 3G mode?

I'd imagine it's exactly the same as the 3G to 1X switch. If 3G isn't available, most phones now a day revert to the 1X instead for data (and eating up battery life in the process).

I guess so. But there should be manual toggle switch for 4G radio like Evo to save some juice when you don't really need 4G speed. So it's pretty much always bleeding on battery power with 4G radio on, and there is no way to stop this? Then it's big fail for me. If battery can't last 10 hours under medium usage, then it's automatically out of my consideration no matter how good it is otherwise.

Just curious...where will you jump to?

My brother just got the Thunderbolt. It is a solid phone. Great speakers, screen, blazing fast, and loads of memory.

However the battery like most HTC's is lacking. Then again so did my stock fascinate, now I can get up to 4 days on a single charge with the undervolt kernel I'm running, so I'm guessing thats all they will need as well.

Well how is the battery life on this phone? Compare it to the fascinate? With moderate use can it last all day or at least 12 hours?

Think about it though...most people don't even know what the Fascinate is, even though we have a number of developers who do really great work to make our phones what they are, imagine how many people are buying the Thunderbolt and how many more devs there may be in the future. Within a month or two they'll have that rooted and undervolted to actually have pretty decent battery life haha

OK so played with it for about a day and here are some impressions thus far. It is extremely fast. No lagg, no freezes, and installs apps far quicker than my fascinate does. There is no sms bug or call bug and I am able to use the phone and 3g at same time. I do wish it had the gpu that the fascinate has, but it still does extremely well at videos and games. It has a nice screen even though it is not a somled. Some people are not happy how much the os and aps have set aside for memory( have 2.38gb free).
Those are my impressions thus far and will add more as I use it more.
