Ok Android Nation, this is the question...How is the call quality on your brand new Thunderbolt?

Mine is ehhh, meaning its ok! Not GREAT, but not HORRIBLE either. Theres a little hum on the line as soon as the call connects. And people on the other end sound a little high pitched, and.slightly robotic...like I said Ehh!

Anyway, how bout everyone else?

Let me start off by saying I LOVE THIS THING! That being said, one of the first things i noticed was the mediocre call quality on my end. On the other end I was told I was coming off as crystal clear. On my end there was almost a static as if the handset was turned up too loud, even though it wasn't. It's certainly not a dealbreaker, but if it's something your excited about - don't be. I'm going to keep a close ear on the situation, but at this point call quality is actually a step down from my old BB.

Actually, I want to know how good the call quality is as well. In fact, I was poised to get a Samsung Facinate until I heard the call quality. It sucked in my opinion and was a deal killer...

I was going to get the Incredible, but decided to wait till the release of the TB.

Looking forward to giving this phone a try myself and to hear from others on their findings.

The call volume is great, clarity is nice but I hear allot of noise in the background.

You hit the nail on the head...it just sounds like noise while your on the call. Even while its ringing you can just hear that while noise. Then for me, the other persons voice just sounds a bit distorted at first, its slight, but its there! Annoying, I had a similar issue with the incredible. Not in the mood to go through 5 phones to find a better one, once that starts the next one has more problems then the one before it. I'll deal for right this minute, because otherwise its all good!

Mine has been completely fantastic :) Crystal clear on both ends, no dropped calls, strong signal bars pretty much everywhere. I found out I live on a "fringe" 4G area so that kinda sucks (lol) but I use WiFi all the time at home and work so it didn't really affect me.

In any event, sound quality, data quality, etc. is all top notch. This device is extremely solid.

How is the volume of the ear speaker (not speaker behind kickstand)? I have a loud car and I have a hard time hearing on the Evo sometimes.

I've heard the volume on some Sony Ericssons and it was loud! We were at a loud restaurant and I had to turn it down. Years of booming stereo systems have taken their toll.

I am coming from the Verizon Iphone 4 and that phone has AMAZING call quality even on speaker.
I had the Inspire 4G and the earpiece was so so but the loudspeaker was like a tin can. Also alerts and ringtones were unbearably quiet.

When I get my Thunderbolt via FED EX today I will be anxious to see what the deal is.

@LoyalServent, I had an X and the call quality and loudspeaker were excellent! If this phone is on par or better I will be happy!!!

Bumping... since this can be such deal breaker for many considering this phone.

I tried the Facinate and it sounded horrible which made me wait for the Thunder. I will be trying the phone quality of the Thunder this coming Thursday.

If you live in the US, it would be nice if you could mention where are you living so others can see how the reception/call quality may be in their area... or if bad call quality is more prevalent in some regions in the US.

Note: I live in the Portland Oregon area.

Thanks,
Dennis
