Root [rom] ud 3.1.0

Every kernel I've tried with the ROM has sent me into a boot loop, so I'm sticking with the stock kernel. Battery life has been comparable to CM7 and UD 2.5. I've been using the navigation a lot without a car charger though, so it's hard to gauge good/bad battery life when using an app like that.

Thanks for the info. Where did you find some compatible GB kernels?

ChevyNo1 released some kernels (available through ROM manager, and I assume his page as well) that are supposed to be specific to GB somehow. I've tried those, my old go-to slayher kernels (1.0 and 1.1 ghz LV), as well as lower frequency (900 mhz) slayher and chevy kernels. Every single one of them resulted in a boot loop. I don't know what it is with UD 3.1, but it's not interested in playing nice with any other kernels besides the stock. I've learned to deal with that though. The ROM itself works perfectly in every other way, and my only complaint is the built-in GB copy/paste function thinking I'm trying to copy or paste when I double-tap a word in a text that I actually intend to use swype's menu to change to a different word.

I'm having a similar problem.
Some tracks or albums are lumped together (i.e. one album has 17 tracks, but shows 38 due to several other albums being dumped into the same folder).

All of my tags are correct too, I use Foobar2000 on my PC to tag everything, the music shows up fine everywhere else...

Plus my album art is wrong for almost every album, so I'm seeing lots of White Pony album covers overwriting my other album covers...

I'm running PlayerPro, the default music player, and DoubleTwist, no luck getting things right.

Clearing the cache and Dalvik cache doesn't help either. :(

Well, I guess no one has encountered the issue above that I've run into...

Anyway, I think that I'm going to take my D1 completely back to stock and start over with rooting and adding UD 3.1.1. My battery life with this particular ROM for lack of a better word sucks! I'm lucky if I can get between 3 and 8 hours out of my phone, with moderate or heavy use. I'm thinking maybe the rooting or the rom didn't take, or something screwed up along the way from stock to what it is now. Unless you guys have any suggestions that would work, could someone please direct me to a link or thread here that explains how to completely wipe my D1, back to stock, so I can start all over again?

Or would that do any good whatsoever?

I thank anyone in advance for a reply or any help. It is appreciated. I've recently upgraded from an LG Ally running Velocity 1.0, to this D1 my friend gifted to me. For what it's worth. :)

I would certainly not go back to stock and re root, just try a different kernal. All droids are different and respond differently. Currently I'm on gpa 14 with 1.2 kernal and battery life is awsome but I do miss the options available in ud or pe.

dont mean to derail the thread, but how are all droids different? arent they all manufactured by machines and computers? i just always see people say that and always wondered why, haha

Just like pc chips from the same die and batch, one can be overclocked to a different extreme than another, one Droid plays well with a certain rom and kernal combo while another droid hates the same combo.

What most people mean by that statement is that the individual components vary within their allowances.

Think about Xbox 360's. They are all the same in that they are all made from the same parts. However, each individual part is slightly different because manufacturing allows for slight variances within certain limits. These variances can make or break an individual device. Think about the Xbox 360's. Within a few months of the devices release, thousands of them RRoD'd, while thousands others never overheated once. I had mine for more than 3 years before I had problems with it and the problem was with the video card. Mine only RRoD'd after I left it running, stuck on the frozen boot screen. It ended up overheating and thats when it RRoD'd.

So, in other words, the devices are the same, but the components used in each device can be slightly different which can make them either really like or really hate a certain kernel.
