Root CM 7.0 Nightlies

10 days since the last post in this thread? Sad.

Well, I keep using the CM7 nightlies. My phone likes them the best, and that's good enough for me. Every time I try a different ROM and come running back to the tried-n-true.

Yeah, there have been a lot of builds since RC2. I'm waiting for an official RC to upgrade. Good to know though that the nightlies remain stable.

You're not the only one! There isn't much too say - they're continuing to be great. I haven't noticed any new features but whatever behind-the-scenes tinkering they're doing seems to be working. I have no complaints.

I flashed #25 yesterday and was faced with the same issues I had before RC2 came out: gvoice and gmail failed to notify me of the vast majority of new messages, Setting Profiles stopped setting my profiles, music stopped playing when I ran practically any other app...basically no background apps can run reliably. I just flashed back to RC2 and life is good again. I'm done with the nightly builds until final release.

Alright guys, since this seems to be the most active thread. I'm running RC2 and my email stopped syncing. I have a couple exchange accts that I sync to my droid and they have both stopped. Any suggestions?

There is a thread about this over in the CM forums, under droid/experimental mod.

Many people are having the same problem with exchange. Mine goes anywhere from an hour to several hours after a reboot, and then it just stops syncing.

Either there's a bug which they have not yet fixed, or this is yet another victim of GB killing a background task that is syncing with exchange servers.

My feeling is, it's the latter of the two.

But it is pissing me off more and more.

This agressive killing thing of GB is affecting me more and more, the longer i use CM 7. I'll have trillian running in the background or something like that. It will be running for some time. Then I launch and app, come back to the home screen, and trillian is killed.

I've since tried running that app task killer app that peter alfonso suggested, and altered the settings he suggested to keep background tasks from being killed. It helps a little, but it doesn't make it go away.

Just waiting for the right new LTE/GB phone to come along, and I'm gone. It's been a great ride with the Droid. Longest I've kept any phone ever.

lol, I'm an idiot.

I had upgraded from RC2 to build 29 to get the bitmap fix for the low memory issue. Things didn't improve, so I nandroided back to 6.1.2.

About an hour after I was back on 6.1.2, I realized I never turned on the stupid flag in the CM performance settings to enable the bitmap fix. So I was not seeing the benefit.

Now I have to nandroid back to build 29 just to see if that fixes anything with the option checked.

Follow Up: Checking that setting and rebooting, had little effect on my phone. Background tasks were still being killed quickly. Bummer. Back to 6.1.2.

Ok its been awhile since i have switched roms much less to a GB rom. Im using BB 6.2.1 and well i think im ready to move on.. So is everything working with this build? Anything i need to know before i make the move? I did skim through the post and did not see anything major.

I use my maps a lot and nav and latitude
Handcent --- is this broke?
GV for txt and some calls
Calendar has to work and sync
wifi tether for root users
normal web searching and browsing..
Figured i would ask now instead of loading it up and asking a bunch of question later..

Thanks

I don't think I've installed any new apps, but I have just updated to nightly #31, and now, everytime I start navigation, a popular tells me I need to install something from the market in order to get voice guidance... which isn't true, the voice works just fine. If I hit the install button, it brings me to Speechsynthesis Install Data by Android Technologies.

Anyone else seeing this? Was it some app? I didn't see any mention on the nightly discussion at cyanogenmod forums or in any of my quick searches.
