Lagg?

Ok, i know people complain about the eris lagg, and i am now one of them.
I cant take it.. especially with texting. Deleting the texts do nothing.

What can i do to make it faster??
Its REALLY annoying me

How much available memory do you have?
Have you cleared the cache on your apps?
How many 3rd party apps do you have installed?
Do you use the back button or the home button to exit apps?
Do you have an task manager installed or a task killer?

I have 90mb internal memory left
I clear my cache every other day
I have maybe.. 10-15 apps installed, no games and nothing large.
I use both but if i use home often then i use the advanced task killer

get a moto droid ;-) seriously, though, it's starting to seem like there are quite a few housekeeping steps needed to keep this thing running at a decent clip. all this stuff should be more automatic and less of a manual process.

Two things that I have noticed problems with in the past are the uses of home button and task killers. The back button will actually close some apps and help free up ram. Task killers, for me, have only caused problems and when using one is the only time I have had lag.

Turn off haptic feedback; that made a huge difference for me in typing speed.

Kill off apps you aren't using.

Are you seeing the lag using word prediction/T9, or even when straight typing with the landscape keyboard?

does having widgets on your home screens cause lots of lag in general on the phone? does it also eat up battery?

i found the typing to lag a little....so i shut the vibration on the keyboard off and there is a big difference. i also turned on the keyboard sound and i think that works well...

yes, because the homescreen application keeps those widgets, and the programs associated with those widgets, running in the background

Sorry there is nothing you can do. The eris uses an old outdated 2year old CPU and chipset and there is nothing you can do about it. No amount of software tweeking will fix the lag on the eris.

I hate to "hijack" this thread, as they say; I have the same issue with my keyboard and sometimes (rarely) have lag. What applications should I clear the cache of? Most of them have the option grayed-out. I usually can only get 60M of app memory with two apps open: Advanced Task Killer and Weather Channel.
