Root Project Elite v5! (ASOP Gingerbread)

I've been loving this ROM but recently a weird glitch has been happening. My text message ringtone defaults to facebook beep and then to silent. I have it set to a clip I've downloaded, but it is very bizarre that every few hours the SMS tone is reset.

Anybody have suggestions/having this problem? I've never seen it before.

My phone has done this with every Gingerbread release so far, cant get any file I save as my ringtone to stay put, that and the constant closing of facebook, maps and Go! SMS has made me move back to UD 2.5, no issues with any of this there, have tried them all too :(

Same issue for my phone ringtone - that, missing some text notifications and unable to answer some phone calls were enough to get me back on Froyo. :(

I love this ROM but I've been having some issues lately. Lets say, I am playing Angry Birds and the apps I have in the background will QUIT. for example, Screebl (an app to prevent my screen to go off) is always running on the background. I have to go back to the app and restarted again.
this is kinda annoying if someone knows how to fix this issue please hep me out.

thanks :)

I, too, have had major lag with the PE5 ROM in recent weeks and have downgraded back down to Froyo (for now) but you CAN lock up to three apps into memory on the latest version of PE5 - that's how I got Screebl to stay on full time on PE5. I hope to get back on this ROM once additional/further code enhancements have been completed...

I've started to lag also. I think I may have solved it by returning to the PE5 frequency scaling and disabling setcpu. I may return to setcpu but have to mess with my profile settings...not sure exactly why as those settings worked well with all froyo ROM's I used.

I also clear all cache and dalvik every couple of weeks or so.

Because thats the memory management of android. If memory gets low then it will shut down apps running in the background. Its a built in task killer. It would do this in froyo also.

I've only had a couple issues running this ROM for a few weeks.

1. Gtalk keeps kicking me out of conversations back to the launcher/home screen. Sometimes I have to click on Gtalk like 2-3 times to get it to open and stay open. Also in Handscent SMS, when I click on a conversation, it does a transition effect but right back into the conversation list where I'm trying to selected a convo. I have to click on the conversation at least 2-3 times to get it to open.

2. I came to this ROM fron Chevys SS 5.01 and I miss the option where the Droid keeps the screen off when the keyboard is slid out. This kills my battery when I keep my Droid in my pocket because the keyboard always slides out a tad, enough to turn the screen on and it stays on in my pocket. Is there an app or something else I can install to get this feature back..? This should have been in the stock Droid ROMs from launch.

How do I update LauncherPro with this ROM? If I go through the market it has a signature error and if I try through PE settings it does not update

I had this problem too. I haven't read the whole thread...but check HERE for potential answers.

I've used LP for a long, long time now and decided to use this opportunity to test run a new launcher. I am now using Go Launcher EX and it seems, so far, to be running better for me and I've not yet had any redraw problems like I sometimes did with LP.

-MEMORY issue? I run music player(stock) and all I have to do is begin to browse on Dolphin browser and the music app closes.

- GPS has always been iffy as far as will i even get signal. Thought it was my tinted windows but i see others have had this same issue.

-also i get random reboots. Not even when temp is high.

but other than those 3 things. I havent had one complaint. Althought gps and music are the number 1 thing(s) i use

Soooo pretty *drool*

I feel like I have a brand new phone :D This rom rocks, best I've tried.
I do a have a question, though, and maybe it's a dumb one. I love the stock theme, it just looks very clean. However, the orange highlights on the keyboard, or when you tap a menu option, things like that are always orange. I found the setting to change the overscroll glow (love that) and I thought, if someone thought of changing that, probably there's a way to quickly change the highlight color without installing a whole new theme?

If so, where is this option located? If not, anyone know of a theme very similar to the stock theme but with cyan-ish bluish highlights? :D

Thanks!!!

I'm guessing the dev quit on updating this ROM? Haven't seen an update in months now :(. It's starting to lag bad now and locking apps in memory aren't working anymore for some reason. Seems like my Droid is constantly out of RAM, even after FC everything running in the background.

I thought about starting a new thread with this but didn't because it's still a beta.

PE v6 2.3.3 BETA

Thanks for posting. I already went to SS 5.3 for now though and it's a dramatic improvement so far. I'll keep this in mind though in case my Droid goes to shit again, as it usually does after a month or so. I think I'm just gonna get an Xperia Play soon :D.

I did get to toy with the SE X Play (huhhuh huh, hehheh heh), and thought it was interesting. Specs won't impress many, but if you're content with how the Droid performs on a regular basis, you'll probably be satisfied. But that gaming was actually pretty fun. I found the controls pretty responsive and using the track pads in place of the analog sticks was actually not too difficult to get used to. I enjoyed it.

Thanks for the link. I had absolutely loved v5 in the first few days I ran it, but it just became unbearable afterwards, no matter how I tweaked it. Hopefully they've had time to work out that issue. Gonna give her a go. And by all means, start a new thread. Beta or not, it's something new for us to try. Plus it's usually good to earn a few "thanks". lol

All right, gave this a go, but it didn't last on my Droid long. I would go through the sign in process, get to the "backing up Google" page, then it'd reboot and I'd have to start over again. Did this a few times. Bypassed it after a while, tried to restore apps, reboot.

I tried the kernel provided, and I couldn't get past the M. Ok, RaidZero kernel (CorCor's provided link did not work). No reboots, but man, was my Droid hot. Restoring apps was very slow, and my battery percentage was all over the place. Was almost full when I started, got the low batt pop up, charge it up, checked it after about 15 mins to see how app restoration was going, and noticed the phone was fully charged.

I take it off the charger and play with it for a bit. Batt percentage dropped again. Finally, I'm just annoyed, it's well past midnight, I'm restoring Liquid. And now, Liquid is running smoother than before, so I dunno. lol
