EVO 3D looks great, but if they release Sense 2.0 w/ Gingerbread and that awesome new lock screen, I believe the EVO would still be better. When I say better, I mean b/c you won't have to buy a new phone, sign a new contract, or move your data just to get those new features.

How many of you would love to see those new features on our EVO's?

you can get gingerbread, but not the new sense, as far as I know...

that said...the evo 3d in terms of sheer power clearly blows the current evo away. but all the small extenuating circumstances mean the original evo still has a reason for existing. there's nothing in the 3d that for me, right now, justifies an upgrade. The ugliness of the two cameras outweighs the novelty of any 3d/1080p features, the ease of media streaming with a built in kickstand, the shorter length for "pocketablility" (lol)

thats my thing, the only thing that makes me want to upgrade really is the software. The hardware on the EVO is good enough for me, and Im sure many feel the sameway. Of course, spec wise, the EVO3D blows it out of the water. But give me the upgraded software minus the 3d and Im good to go on the EVO. lol

I think I would be more willing to cast my vote if I got to play with an OG EVO with new Sense + Gingerbread along with getting to play with the 3D. Before we do that, it is all conjecture IMO.

I am sure the OG EVO will be awesome with Gingerbread and the new sense, but let's face it, it's all about user experience. I don't think most of us here replace a phone because it has been rendered unusable, but rather because there is something more powerful out to replace it.

does an operating system/launcher really require dual core to run?

The answer to this is obvious. No, it does not. How can I be so sure? Well, look at what is out there. It's all almost exclusively single core, so it obviously doesn't REQUIRE a dual core to run. Dual cores are simply more efficient and faster. The die (sp?) is also smaller, which goes back into the efficiency factor.

Every GB based ROM i've ever tried has been a really cool and smooth UI experience, but the camera app is terrible. You loose the nice wide aspect ratio for 8mp photos as well as video. As of right now, that's the deal breaker for me. sticking with sense based ROMs for now until I hear of a better camera experience in a GB ROM.

One can hop I suppose. I think we have all been around long enough to know that NO date is the real date until we are physically updating our phones to the official ROM release. I have seen official dates be postponed in the last minute. I am going with the safe bet of expecting absolutely nothing and hoping I do get something.

Unless my thinking is wrong, i don't think i want to downgrade from an 8mp camera to a 5mp, when not taking 3d pics....phone is plenty fast for me and with the upgrade to the new launcher, if we get it, i'm gonna stay with original evo....

We have no idea how good the sensors and software is. The 5MP pic taken by the 3D mught actualy look 10x better than the 8MP pic taken by the EVO. I would be utterly shocked if they kept everything the same and downgraded to 5MP. THat doesn't make sense to me. I am banking on a camera that takes nicer still than the 4G as well.

I also had a hard time believing they would downgrade the camera when every other spec has been at least bumped, in some cases doubled, but again, unless my thinking is wrong, megapixels means pixels per inch, doesn't it? so haw can having less pixels give you a better image? All the new camera's i saw at CES this year were at least 10mp some were 12mp, if you can get a better pic with less then why are camera manufacturers going higher and higher with megapixel counts? Then again i have not researched this, so i could be way off base here......
