What Phone Screen Size is Too BIG, just Right, or Too Small for you?

All though I once heard some clown say that no one wants to buy a big phone, it certainly looks like their is a market for them. I love the 4.3" of my EVO.

:pJobsy the clown?:D

yep.. he will eat those words...
the iphone 5 or 6.. will have a bigger screen. he has to give what the public wants. eventually.

and he will say it revolutionary .. and ifans will argue it was the first time it was done right!

What about the resolution? 800x480 on a 3.7", 4" and 4.3"? Which would result in better fonts, less pixelisation? I feel that the 4 inchers would have the edge here as compared to any larger screen size, while the 3.7 may become a bit too tiny as well as problems with the keyboard.
As much as the human eye can detect - 3.2" screen would be perfect for 800x480 resolution. Anything higher can result in pixelation that can be detected by human eye.

The "new" qHD resolution in Atrix and Pyramid are good up to 3.7". Anything higher can again result in pixelation detectable by human eye.

i agree with this statement. but sometimes you have to give up quality for quantity. which is one of the reason i got an evo. not the best screen but it is one of the biggest. and i do alot of media.

Agree. What I feel is that the trend of simply having bigger screens at the same resolution would only lead to more pixelisation. Probably the main advantage of the bigger screen on android is that the on screen keyboard becomes easier to use.

e.g. my 24" monitor is 1920x1080. I would have probably been happier with a 21 or 22" at that resolution. And many 27" monitors have the same resolution / pixels. I feel I would get even blurrier and bigger text - no real increase in desktop size at all. In the old days the bigger the monitor the more the pixels so that one gets a higher desktop size as well.

With the new dual cores better GPUs, why can they not increase the pixel density on the larger screens? Otherwise a bigger screen only makes sense if one has fat fingers.

I like a larger screen as well. Since I also like physical keyboards, my selection is limited. I moved from a Nokia N97 with 3.5" screen to an HTC Desire Z with a 3.7" screen. So far, I'm comfortable with the size of the Desire Z screen. I wouldn't mind going to a larger screen for my next phone. It'll probably be a couple of years away, so I'll see how things change by then.

Since I like to be different I grabbed the DX on launch day because I figured apart from the EVO it would be the only phone this big. I had not forseen that this size would become so popular. For the past decade phones were getting smaller, and smaller, and smaller. That was the 'in' thing, having as small a phone as they could make. So I didn't think big phones would have much of a following.

Now it seems every 3rd phone being released is at least 4 inches (screen size). And having used this 4.3 device for almost a year now, there's now way I could go any smaller than 4 inches. I would be very open to trying a 4.5 or 4.7 inch screen though. It just makes internet browsing and emails so much easier (for me) to read. When I had my blackberry I did read emails and browse the internet when I was away from home. But once I hit the front door the phone hit my pocket I and did all my browsing on my computer.

Now I only feel the need to put my phone away and get on the computer when I have a LOT of typing to do. While swype and the large keyboard on my phone are pretty usefull, it still doesn't replace a full size keyboard that I can fly on. So yeah, large screen for me please. It just sucks that they use SOOO much more battery than their smaller brothers and sisters do.
