Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

But I already Flashed it with fastboot. I used the Recovery to install the google app fix.

Edit: I did that same thing once again. Flashed with that autoupdater of yours to a fresh v1.8 copy. There was nothing on. Installed the gApps using the Recovery and all the apps showed up but the "Android Market" app. When I go to manage applications under the "ALL" tab, I can see it there, just can't acces it.

Please, oh please. I don't wanna go back to CM6 :(

Okay, I found on XDA that I need the latest gApps. Downloaded 2011/03/07 and it works fine for now. Had some trouble on the first run (didn't want to open the search bar) but that fixed it self. I llove the fact that CM7 doesn't lagg when an app is about to be installed unlike CM6. Really amazing. Couldn't find any bugs on this ROM and I hope I never will ^^

Thanks a lot!

thank you for your reply! I have 2.3 set up nicely and everything is running fine other than email. I get to the checking incoming server settings screen but it says:
Set up could not finish
Unable to open connection to serber.
I had wifi connection and it worked and i had been able to use it before installing 2.3 (if it helps i installed 2.2 first then 2.3)
I don't understand why this is happening as my account allows it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have a strong Wi-Fi signal? Try using mobile data instead. What email account are you setting up?

Hi Dudeman,
I was just wondering, I have noticed that you have a GT540 which has Gingerbread, but is not overclocked. Is there a reason for this. I was just wondering if you didn't think overclocking made any real difference in the real world.

Well, I only tend to overclock when I'm running games, or apps that need a bit more power, otherwise having it overclocked all the time tends to make my battery die quicker, but then again my battery is a bit old, so it's lost it's overall capacity. Lots of people say that having it at max 804 is a good one for performance and battery life.

Actually now that I remember, I use Tasker to automate my overclocking. I can set it to overclock to a specific frequency with certain apps, and put it back to 600MHz when it doesn't need the extra power. It's also set so when my battery gets to 35%, things turn off to save battery. e.g. 3G to 2G, Auto sync off, clock to 600MHz etc.

I'd definitely recommend getting Tasker, the price has gone up from what I remember, but it's unbelievable value for it's money. The app can literally do anything you want, at a certain time or something happens. E.g. you can switch the signal to 2G only when Wi-Fi is connected, and back to 3G when it disconnects. And so much more. Check out a list here (it can do much more than this, just Google something): Profiles - Tasker Wiki

Hope this helps! :D :)
