Just bought a Nexus One

I've just spent 3 hours with my nexus one. I have to say it's everything I hoped my Galaxy would be. It fixes all the bugs I had with the K4 firmware.

I still think the Galaxy hardware design is better and the Galaxy with Android 2.0 or 2.1 will be cool. I just don't have time to wait for that, Samsung doomed this phone and I'll never buy another from them. I hope the community continues to hack 2.x onto the phone in spite of Samsung.

I'm disappointed there's STILL no signature on the email app. The music app is almost untouched from 1.5. The power button is tricky to hit a little - and it's the wake up button too. The app list does not slide well. All small stuff though, it's fast and polished, I'm happy.

Mostly I feel they will sell millions of them and put out regular updates (OTA updates too!).

Still though, if they manage to port 2.x to the Galaxy it'll be pretty sweet.

2.0 is ported to the galaxy :) It runs quite fast too!

The music app being un touched is a bit dissapointing to hear :(

hey kam, long time no talk ;)

n1 is bad ass, don't let the music player dissuade you, come to the dark side :p

I really loved my galaxy when I got it, but over time all the little 'problems' have just left a bad taste in my mouth.. To think I only paid $50 (us) more for my n1 than I paid for my galaxy is at this point astounding.. Everything (so far, I've only had the n1 for about 8 hours) is just...better..

I seem to get a stronger signal on the n1 (both devices next to each other) and about a -5 to -10db difference
I get a gps lock *much* faster, seconds now.
There is a notification LED (omfg I so missed that from my g1)
I can pull up the dial pad in call and, you know, actually touch it on the n1. Instead of menu- dialpad- dpad nav to number- ok.. Christ that was annoying.
It is fast as HELL.
Even with live wallpapers running.. (sure I know this is just eye candy, but nothing wrong with that..)
I connect to my N router @ 65mbps (two rooms away)
I seemed to have a 'dead'-ish spot on my VK on the galaxy the o key was particularly hard to press. The VK on the n1 (the same VK mind) seems incredible, I don't know if it's just due to the larger size or what but I seem to be able to type way faster..
Did I mention it's fast?

All it needs now imo is multi-touch in the browser, gallery, maps and the VK and it will be GOLDEN

can..not..wait.. for Cyanogen baconmod (lol) for N1

Think I'll wait a week or two to root and make sure there are no hardware issues with my device and for more of a full fledged rom to arrive then it's time to party!

I think i am going to stay with my Galaxy for now because things seem to be looking up for us. Considering drakaz is also coming back to continue development for 2.0 & 2.1 on the galaxy.

The thing is by the time my contract finishes there will probably be so many Android phones out there to suit every need of the market so the waiting will do me some good. I hope.

I already ordered a N1 :) I'm having serious dificulties selling my galaxy tho, even at a miserable 200 EUROs :(

Aparently the European version of the N1 will have multitouch. Also the european version of the droid has multitouch but the US one doesnt. Cyanogen has said he'll have multitouch working in a matter of days tho :)

The HW, SW and kernel all support it, google just disabled it in their apps. For now you can use dolphin browser if you want multi touch in the browser

You trying to sell it on ebay? Make sure you have lots of actual photos of it up, and not the standard google images one most people put up! Anyway, if it doesn't sell and you end up keeping it until mustymod's 2.0 ROM is completely finished, that will completely bump up the value so you'll probably end up selling for more!

No ebay, just forums for now. I've ordered 1 Nexus because my brother also wants it. So i'm not itchy until it arrives. If i REALLY like it then i'll stick my galaxy on ebay.

Ebay is just anoying because they take alot of fees. I'd rather sell it at a bargain price to someone i know is an enthusiast, and I can help them with stuff through the forum too :)

You seem to have alot of phones : Hero, Galaxy, Pulse :p

There's good arguments to go both ways. The longer you wait, the less you're galaxy will be worth, but at the same time the Nexus will depreciate too.

There's definatly be alot less in it when galaxy gets 2.0 (official or otherwise)

I've just received my N1 today via DHL and, once I worked out how to add the appropriate data settings for my O2 sim, I have been totally blown away by it. Had a Galaxy since Sept and was not nearly as immediately impressed by it. In fact the Galaxy seemed to produce thoughts such as "that's quite good. If only it would...".

With the N1, the screen quality, processing speed and overall design have really impressed me. All the changes for 2.1 that I have observed so far are for the better. I'm just glad that my Galaxy took a swim in the sink in Dec and the insurance company kindly forked out enough cash for me to get the N1 instead.

I'm now trying to work out the best configuration for my widgets and shortcuts. Loving the ability to have one button shortcuts to begin a text to a specific contact, that will be very handy.

I'm also just glad to be away from Samsung. Their complete lack of support for the Galaxy left a nasty taste in my mouth every time I had to look to a forum to find out how to perform yet another workaround because the PC interface was so shocking. It feels very nice to own a product that should continue to get a lot of love and attention from the parent company for several months/years to come.
