Really, I wouldn't be surprised if we never see it...at least officially. I know there are plenty of beta 2.3 ROM's out there, but I expect they're using I9000 source as there is no 2.3 source for the Vibrant. With the way 2.2 was handled, I'm not holding my breath.
Now members over at XDA Developers forums are reporting that Samsung has started to roll out a new version of Kies, the program used to update Samsung Android devices to the latest Android version. A new version of keys basically signals a new Android update, hence Gingerbread.
Of course you'll see Gingerbread. Maybe not for a while if you are content to wait on them. A lot faster if you are willing to spend 10 minutes flashing custom ROM, which in my experience is ALWAYS faster/better anyway. How many of you bitching about getting FROYO are running stock FROYO? Probably not many. (If you are, you're missing out on some great ROMs) I love this phone, just not with Samsung's stock b.s.
I see your point on the fact that we shouldn't need to change our phones, but the majority of us on here (android forums) love to tweak our phones anyway. If you don't feel comfortable with that, maybe some of you would be better served on a phone where you can't modify anything. (Iphone)
Just sayin'
i admit.. i bitched about getting froyo, and finally got it... when i realized how slow it was, i decided to try a custom rom, and it's much much much snappier now. samsung is terrible.
For those of you still looking for the froyo upgrade, just download KIES to your laptop. hook up your phone and follow instruction. Make sure to open KIES first so it recognizes your phone
