WeatherBug Elite is free today

It shouldn't be a trial. All of the free apps I've gotten from Amazon were the full version.

Also, if you download one of the free apps that are generally paid apps, if you uninstall if from your phone, it saves it in your apps in Amazon if you decide to reinstall later. Kind of like your paid apps in the Android Market. :)

The weird thing is Angry-Birds Rio was a daily free app on Amazon, and I downloaded it. Then I had to wipe my phone because it was shutting-down all the time (which had nothing to do with Angry-Birds Rio). And I figured it was no longer free on Amazon. So I looked on Android market and it was free there, not just for a day, but free forever.

I wonder if Weatherbug-Elite will show up free on the Android Market now.

You guys do know if you download an app from the Amazon App Store that they have no way of removing the app from your phone? The Android Market has that power. If an app is detected or reported as malicious they can immediately remove the app from your phone. Amazon cannot do that meaning the app will wreak havoc on your device and you won't notice it until its too late.

I've never had an app removed by the Market. I guess I've been lucky. :)

And yeah, the freebies are staying up for a few days. I'm not sure how long, though.

As for the difference between free and elite, I can't remember all of the difference because it's been a while since I had the free version. I know a biggie is that the ads are gone. You also have customizable widgets that I don't think you get with the free version, and the radar, but they might have that on the free one now. I'm not sure.

Angry Birds Rio launched as an Amazon app store exclusive. It was free the day the Amazon store launched. It is a paid ad free version, the version you are seeing on the Android market is a free version with ads. Other then the adds though it is the same app.

It wasn't available on the Android market until a week or two after the Amazon app store launched.

Thanks! Working good on my phone too....I even got an alert (wind advisory) where I am. I've been looking for a new weather app since TWC crapped out after the last update. I was looking at this just 2 days ago, but didn't want to pay for it. I love this new amazon app store, I just keep forgetting to check for the new free daily app! Glad someone is keeping an eye on it :)

Its also not opensourced like the market meaning this will never happen

And Google has used this a grand total of once in how many years? Also the Amazon App Store approves all apps before they can be put on the market (just like Apple), Google doesn't do that.

So no they can't remote wipe an app, however since they approve all of the apps the chances of a bad one getting through are slim.
