xScope, a multitouch pinch zoom browser

Love the Browser demonstrated it and let a few iphone users at work try it and they both agreed it was as smooth as the iphone zooming. it also beat the pants of their iphones browsing to a page at the same time. (that was fun only because they say the droid is a want to be)

Anyways only think I would like would be for the icon to match all my other icons. It's smaller than all the others and looks weird. Plus a new icon graphic would be nice other than the magnifying glass makes it look like a search function.

One last small thing. You may want to change the name for the app in the market I had to look back and forth before I realized it was a browser and not some sort of file management system.

Anyways awesome product.

Attached is the file. I just scaled the images down so the buttons don't look very sharp. I am working with an artist to change them.
It doesn't support multitouch. But you should really give pin-drag zoom a try. Basically, tap first, then tap the same spot again but not release your tap yet, then drag left or right to zoom.

There is no animation for zooms. So if you double tap or triple tap, it will go to the zoomed level immediately. If you keep tapping, it keeps zooming until you stop tapping.

It is full version.

Please let me know if you have any problems using it.
Known problems handling:
1. Security enable sites
2. pop up windows

Thanks
Awwww, this forum don't let me upload more files saying I have already had 320K. Common admin, we need much more than that space.
If you are running 1.5+ version and want to try, send me a message.

I am working with an artist now for the graphics. Thanks for reminding me.

This problem has been mentioned a while ago. I still have no solution yet. To tell you guys the truth, I haven't yet got a chance to read the stock browser's open source code yet. So I guess I can learn quite some there and get this browser much more robust.
cool, been around since the beginning (not so long ago!) and love the 4.0 update. I'm having trouble with the new 'Near Me Now'. xScope will not find my location, while the built-in browser finds me fast. is there a tweak I'm overlooking?

Hey just got my 1.5 version up on my Eris and I love it definetly worth the wait. I can tell a difference in loading speed with xScope over the phone's default browser so far and I've only been using it for like half an hour. I like how you can have tabs and the windowed setting so i can check my notifications that was annoying how i'd have to exit out or click home from the phones default browser to check on those so great job with that. The pin zoom is pretty sweet just gotta get a lil more used to it but overall I really like this app thank you very much!

Okay, :)

As stated above I have a hero.
I think i'm right in saying it's the lite version.
Which i'm not sure what the difference is but okay.

first i know you're all about zoom.
I found zooming REALLY hard.
The double, triple, quadruple thing really threw me off.
I'm not sure if this is just for the 1.5
But i think it should work in doubles.
Zooming out was almost an impossibilty.
I was reading the tutorial and all i could do was zoom further in D:
There should really be a zoom cut off point.

The pin zooming is nice, it took me a few times to get it right but it is very good.

Tabs. I have no idea how to create a new one.
Can this version even create a new one?

If i understand your above post correctly this is not the up-to-date version? (just to clarify-the reason i ask is i guess this is why there is no option to default it :))

If this is an early version and these things are not an issue with the actual 2.0+ release then please feel free to ignore me.

Also, (i assume you already are)but i regretfully suggest you ignore -2.0 sdk's
Obviously you won't have something extra to trouble with and official 2.1 is only a few months away for the hero anyhow. :)

Keep up the good work. :)

P.s This pin and zoom thing? Did you say apple had patented it?
I'm pretty sure this could be patented.
If The Clapper can patent the clap surely you can patent this.

Great feedback. Thanks!

To create a new tab, simply long press a link. The link will be open in a new tab.
Or go to settings, uncheck 'hide tab if only one page left' option. That way, you will see the tabs.

Zoom zoom zoom. I have to admit that I implemented the pin zoom without any optimization yet. Some users complain about that sometimes scrolling is interpreted as zooming. They are the same rooted problems. There are two things we can optimize here:
1. What kind of repeatability level (how many pixels) is considered tapping at the same spot? (Ahhh, I forgot to adjust the dpi factor, Droid and Nexus packed much more dense pixels. This is so much important!)
2. What time interval is considered as continuous tapping?
I am sure they are very rudimentary at this point.

If you can open local files, kill tasks with it, then it is full version and upto date.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

I forgot to change the DPI setting so that might be troubling :)
I will experience the pin zoom more to get some better parameters or simply make them as customizable by users later.
Pinch & zoom (aka multitouch zooming) is not available on 1.5 yet - doesn't look like the functions to utilize it in 1.5 are available to devs. However, PIN zoom should work - I use it on my Droid, and I think it's just as good, or better.

That's odd because I can actually use pinch & zoom using the document viewer with the Behold.

Don't know if this is happening to anyone else. ON droid with newest version, if you open keyboard, open xscope, then touch favorite_ , it doesn't get selected. This does work in portrait mode. It also works in landscape wo opening kybd. It is only w keybd open.

I am having the same issue when using the physical keyboard (soft keyboard is fine). I can select a specific character to edit but cannot select the entire text box (without long-pressing).
