Root 2.3.3 Gingerbread Issues Thread

love the new blur i must say. the only real issue (and it is more of an annoyance than anything else) is the slightly ghosty image when i am on certain screens.

1. on the facebook app, when i am scrolling, each entry turns darker than the rest until i let go and then it is light again.

2. when i am in the gmail or corporate sync email, and i am at the top of my emails and i try and do a swipe down, there is like a light blue shading that comes down on a section of the screen and goes releases back (i.e. picture someone pulling a projector screen down part way and then letting it go back up )

not a make or break, just annoying. tried tweakiing a couple of settings i thought might be but still same issue.

This is a feature of Gingerbread, not an issue. :)

At random times, a phone call is initiated in Speakerphone. It's unaffected by whether it's an incoming or outgoing call, or whether the screen is locked or not (i thought that when answering a call while the screen is locked i was swiping too far and accidentally hitting the speakerphone button but that wasn't the case).

Annoying, yes.....

I am hoping that someone will work out the wifi issue. I have a Netgear wp2000N and I can not connect to it or it will connect but then get hung up opening a web page and then state that there is not a connection. That is my only issue with Gingerbread, but it is not enough for me to flash back to Froyo.

Did anyone notice how much faster this rom is? I can almost pull 3mb download on 3g. That is the fastest it has ever been.

I could not get any security to work except for WEP.
I could connect with all other types but had no internet. Had to go to WEP...

Oh, and just for confirmation can someone try this...
-while in text messaging, open up a message thread, bring up the keyboard while in portrait, rotate your phone to landscape, then hit the back key. whenever my keyboard is up and the screen rotates and I back out the thread jumps to the first message in the thread.

Same here.

Ok so over a week in and this is a most excellent ROM I must say. I really wasn't expecting such a large jump in performance. It's been a rather pleasant surprise.

The two distractions I've come across thus far are...

1. Some of my apps seem to start over when I leave to go to another app and then return later. For instance I play 'Alien Defender' when I'm bored. In the past I've gone into settings one time, set everything up, and it keeps my preferences no matter if I back out of the app, power off my phone, pull the battery or any other activity. I set it up after flashing a new ROM, and it's good to go. But since flashing GB, any time I stop playing the game and start another activity, next time I open 'Alien Defender' again, all the settings are back to their default values.

The issue is sort of similar on Dolphin HD browser, but not exactly. Say for example I have this forum open in Dolphin and I type this post out and submit it, it shows up in the thread just fine. But then if I go back to my home screen and do another task or two or whatever and then open the browser again, when it first opens I'll see it's right where I left it... but then the screen goes blank for a second, and the page reloads, only my post won't be there. It goes back one step as if I hit the back button. So I'll see the post right before mine, but mine will no longer be there. Not that it's done anything with it of course, once it's been entered it's in the data banks as always. It's just that my Dolphin browser wants to go back to the previous page I was on before, and I haven't the faintest clue why?

2. This really isn't an annoyance as much as it's an observation... the 'Droid' notification ringtone has been stripped of all its bass. I noticed it sounded much different when I first flashed it, but I couldn't really put my finger on what the difference was? But the 1st time I hooked up to my car stereo to listen to the MP3 player and a text came through, I knew immediately what the difference was. On froyo, the 'Droid' notification came through my stereo system with thunderous bass, very strong and intimidating. But now, there is no bass coming out of my two 12's when the 'Droid' comes over my system. Now it's all treble, no midrange to speak of either.

It's not all THAT noticeable just coming out of the phone speaker. But over a high power system, there is a big difference between the two. I sorta thought that was odd.

Playing a song with Power Amp causes my DroidX w/ GB to reboot. UNDER SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES...
I have the lock screen widget enabled in Power Amp.
It happens almost everytime I play a song, then turn off the screen.
Usually when I wake up the screen to change a song(using the lock screen widget)....then go to turn the screen back off.
Could just be lack of Power Amp not having full support yet of GB.
Then again, this leaked build of GB is FULL of bugs etc.

Also:
HexDefense seems to play better on my OG Droid now. :(

^^
This

After all this is the build Verizon turned down, so we can't expect perfection. I'm just impressed with what it does right. The bugs are fairly minor. It's a sign that the official release should be a true keeper. And puts my mind at ease that if (and probably it is) this is the last update our DX's ever see, we'll be in good hands from here on out.

Team Black Hat specifically stated that this was NOT the build that VZW rejected

Oh really? Did not know that. So what then, this is the version they built up from the version VZW rejected? It would have to be, if it wasn't based on a kernel straight out of Motorola, we'd have no chance to flash it over the 2.2.1 kernel.

according to CellZealot and P3 this version was dated like March 23rd...CellZealot said that there was NO WAY that anyone outside of Motorola had tested this build at the point it was leaked to us...P3 later expanded on it by saying that ROM building is a continuous effort at Motorola and that they are always working on multiple builds of the same OS. Then it comes down to Verizon finding one of them that they like best...

This was likely just another of the simultaneous builds floating around Motorola and being worked on...Things like the "call AT&T" tethering app mistake lead me to believe that it was also being built along side a ROM for (most likely) the Atrix 4G as well...

in addition to that the 3.4.2 leak for our phones used the same version of Blur that comes stock on the Atrix 4G...makes me think development for our X's works on a similar schedule to the Atrix...

Ha...I'm not that simple :)

No really though, aside from the notification pull down window, if you are on a screen with the white background , such as email or text, or even browser, and you pull down as if you were trying to scroll your email messages to the top, a slightly blueish screen discoloration appears. it happens when trying to pull the screen left or right as well...

No, Really!!! it is a feature built in to Gingerbread. Google "overscroll glow" and see what ya get. It is not an issue, it IS a feature, appearently one that you do not like. ;)

I have to admit when I first saw this I thought what in the heck is going on. However after being on this two weeks now I really like it. You don't sit there and keep thinking there is more to scroll to, once the blue shading comes up you know you are at the top or bottom of the menu.
