Squeaky holster/case combo-- haaaaalp!

I purchased my Droid not too long ago, and decided to go with the hard case/hoslter combo; the stupid thing SQUEAKS when I remove my Droid, however. Anybody figure out a simple fix to this issue, or even where it's squeaking? I'd rather not oil the case and I've tried bending it out a little to fix rubbing issues, but to no avail. That notwithstanding, does anyone have a really awesome holster that works well? Either vertical or horizontal works for me, though it needs to hook to a belt (obviously).

My leather holster is dead quiet, looks good, has a belt clip, love it. $9.95 to my door off FreeBay. Search "leather holster" with plenty of links.
Would you mind linking me to the one that you, yourself, own? I know there are about 1,000,000 out there and I want to make sure that A) it fits and B) it is something people appreciate.

Well I must say this all sounds very strange. I have the stock shell/holster combo from Verizon, and it doesn't squeak at all!

It slides in and gives a soft click, and that's it.

Hmmm. I must say I am rather perturbed.
That's the one I own; it squeaks (or, as my students suggest, sounds "like a turkey") when it hits a particular spot on the holster.

I also own the Verizon Shell/Holster combo and it squeeks, I notice it more in cold weather. The rubberized layer on the case is probably hardening a bit and causing the squeek. But yes it does happen (not as often) in warm weather.

Ok, just tried this as I was typing this out, take your phone out of the holster and rub your thumb on the bottom of the holster till you feel your thumb get warm. By bottom I mean the flat part right above the arm that would stop the phone from just sliding all the way through...like where the microphone would be at...I need to find a picture...

I have this same combo from Verizon. I love the case. It seems to really protect the Droid really well. My question is does anyone else have a problem with the phone just not holding very well in the holster? I mean it isn't like it just comes right out, but it does come out pretty easily. The phone doesn't really lock down in the holster like I thought it would.

As we have been experiencing unusually cold weather here lately, I just noticed the squeaking a couple of days ago - culminating in the squeak manifesting itself right in the middle of my first day of classes when I tried to look at the time (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)

The warming up trick is great, when inserting the phone - however, the squeak, for me, is more pronounced when *removing* the phone from holster - and it's pretty hard to warm that spot up when the phone is in he way, and removing the phone to warm it up it like shooting a dead horse after the fact....

Any other ideas? Perhaps some sort of (scotch?) tape in said spot?

Ok, this may sound a bit gross, but along with 'warming' it up you can also lube it up. Take your finger and wipe the bridge of your nose on the side by your tear duct and then rub down the holster.

I did this earlier this afternoon (original post) and it hasn't squeeked since. Although I'm a greasy italian so i got more lube than others :p
