Root 2.3 and Bright Hard Keys

Yes I can attest to them being brighter (and whiter like Airmaxx's ;) ), but it only bothers me when I'm on one of my Ninja assassination missions and the blasted things give my location away. On a plus note, when I am spotted all I have to do it throw it about 10 feet from my location and it draws the machine gun fire away from me, leaving me an excellent opportunity for a clean get away!

i don't understand why this seems to bother everyone so much. they are brighter. probably just due to a software tweak due to people complaining they weren't bright enough before now. they are LED lights, this shouldn't worry anyone.

Well it does. Light blasting me is not my idea of fun. No need for them to be brighter, which will eat more battery.

There is so much "winning" in this post. :D

Blasting you?

Haha, I agree they are brighter by a noticeable margin over where they were set before. But to say those tiny (not anywhere close to high intensity powered LED's) are blasting light at us is similar to saying, "a snail rushed me while I stood on the lawn"... a bit of an over statement.

:D

LOL!

I feel ya. I would describe a blast as using Moto Torch LED or Telsa LED and aiming it directly at my eyes, then turning it on. Now thats a blast.

I did notice that last night when my phone was in the dock, they did not turn off at all. the first night I know they did but last night, no matter what I tried they would not turn off while in the dock... not really a big deal just something else I noticed

my thoughts exactly. For those of you that don't dock yours then your right its no big deal. But i use mine as a bedside clock and those bright @ss buttons have to go. Mine won't dim either ECF. I end up just hitting the sleep button which is stupid cause then it gets rid of the clock all together. ...

The clock doesn't bother you, but those itty bitty lights that are 1/10th the size of said clock, do bother you?

Lol, hey I'm not telling anyone what should or shouldn't annoy them. If they annoy you, then so be it. It just doesn't compute for me how such tiny little lights that were never deemed a problem for anyone in the past that I can ever remember, are now a thorn to some because they're 10% brighter than before. I dunno, just kinda feels nitpickyish.

But hey, that's what we're all here for I suppose. ;)

Isn't there a way in 'Spare Parts' or maybe even in a stock setting that can turn off those LEDs? I swear I've seen a setting somewhere that asked me if I wanted them left on, or turn them off.

I don't know about with gingerbread, but with froyo, there was a line in the build.prop file that you had to edit in order for any led hacks to work. I'm going to do some poking around when I get home and see if I can figure it out.

The app "adjbrightness" allows you to turn off the back lights. On the main screen just hit the "buttons" button to toggle them off. You can also lock them off by going into the app settings and putting a check mark in the "Lock Off Button Light" field.
